The Bloodstone Campaign - Player Opening From: Geoff Lowry <blackwlf@ilos.net> Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 02:16:16 +0000 The Bloodstone Campaign, a low-level 2nd Edition AD&D-based game, has been running for several months now, and in my opinion, can be called a success. But alas, as with everything else, the evil ogre of everyday life rears its ugly head, and I find myself in need of a replacement player. The story is as follows: "After ten years of war, Gareth Dragonsbane and his companions have finally defeated Zhengyi the Witch King and his minions. Now, the unenviable task of rebuilding falls on Gareth's capable shoulders. As lives are put back together, Gareth, the new Baron of Bloodstone, finds that there are just too many tasks for him to accomplish himself, so he decides to recruit a hearty band of adventurers. Coming from all around the Realms, as far away as the Elven Court and the Sea of Fallen Stars, to as close as Vaasa itself, the group calls itself "The Dragons of Bloodstone." A motley bunch, to be sure, but each member's skills complement and enhance each others. Their first task was to investigate mysterious happenings on one of the trade routes leading towards Bloodstone. It seems that an upstart orcish shaman was raising undead to attack the caravans. The party investigates, and finds out that the shaman was involved in more sinister activities, as the demon spawn brought forth by the shaman showed. Returning victorious, the party is currently at the fortress known as the Vaasan Gate celebrating their victory." I need a player to take over Isilith Moondrinker, a female elven ranger from the Elven Court. Since this is a female character, I would prefer to see this character run by a female player. Please DO NOT send me character submissions, since I am happy with the composition of the party as it is, and I have no desire to change it. I am currently running Isilith as a NPC, and I will continue to do so until the position is filled. This is a fairly steady running campaign, with at least one turn per week, and possibly as many as two or three. This is a ROLE-playing game, not a ROLL-playing game. This means that the emphasis is placed on player and character interaction with the other player characters, the NPCs and the environment. Approximately 75% of the experience awarded will be based on role-playing, with the remaining 25% based on monster and treasure experience. This is an evolving campaign where the passage of time and the effects of weather do play a pivotal role. Please do not apply for the game if you do not intend to participate fully. I expect full involvement from my players, and every turn sent needs to be replied to. The more involved the character is in the campaign, the more experience awarded and the more material I have to work with. This makes the game more enjoyable for everyone. I also expect my players to be somewhat familiar with the house rules, which are accessable at http://www.ilos.net/~geoff/bloodstone/intro.htm If you think you are up to the task, e-mail me with a short description of your experience with gaming and PBeMs, and why you think you would make good player in my game. Thanks, Geoff Lowry DM, The Bloodstone Campaign Up
