New PBM game: Netwalkers v2.0 (free, open-ended, email, www, human, space, rpg) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Thu, 11 Jan 2001 02:08:14 +0000 Name: Netwalkers v2.0 Email: eldo@acay.com.au Frequency: 4/week Type: futuristic URL: http://www.eldo.webcentral.com.au Costs: free Last-Update: 2000Oct19 Keywords: free, open-ended, email, www, human, space, rpg Description: I slide between the silky layers of green-text data -- my Elf Lite revved, my add-ons primed. Mind siphoning-processing-arranging, neurons flaring-interfacing-screaming, code forming-mutating-adapting. I laugh [!] at Hackers trying to emulate me at Runners trying to catch me. I am of the Netwalkers: the elitist, invincible, and unadvertised gods of the Net. I'd stay and enlighten you but time's tickin' away. So bye bye bye. See ya on the Net. . . . I slide between the silky layers of green-text data ... This is a PBEM/WWW based game set in the far future. Earth's computers are fully connected in a huge network called the Net. Within the binary pathways of the Net, an entire reality formed: a reality quite separate from the physical world. The game revolves around the Netwalkers, an elite cadre of super-hackers who wields the enigmatic live-code to rule the Net. Your character is a member of this group. A major part of the game is The Game, a virtual duel between two Netwalkers. Players have the chance to build up their characters with libraries and add-ons (similar to weapons and armors). Each character is also defined by a set of skills, which can be advanced. You can change your strategy for each Game by equipping different libraries and add-ons, giving you the chance to outwit and defeat a stronger opponent. While action mostly revolves around The Game, there's plenty of good roleplays and plots. In fact these are necessary to differentate Netwalkers from a dry, dice-rolling game. However the 'dice-rolling' component is very much present and also required, and may not appeal to everyone. This game is perfect for those who likes both gaming and roleplaying. Please read the 'Quick Start' section in the website to start your char. The website also has rules of posting. Applicants are required to be good roleplayers (able to write interesting and clear roleplays) and be able to post on a regular basis. Netwalkers currently has a high standard of roleplays and we like to keep it that way. The game is already running so you'll be able to jump straight in. [ This is a new entry for the PBM List.
