Any interest? From: "Captain NoName" <cpt0name@donet.com> Date: Wed, 31 Jan 2001 06:14:35 +0000 I am (very slowly, I started in 1993) developing a play by email game called Ad Astra - SCS. Ad Astra Strategic Conflict Simulation is to be an open-ended play by email game set in a future where humans are surrounded by more advanced starfaring races. Players pursue their own goals and form their own alliances. Large governments already exist and control vast amounts of capital and firepower, but space is a big place and most of it is unexplored (and, hence, unclaimed). New nations can be formed on distant worlds. Old nations can be toppled from within. The players will drive the whole storyline through their actions on a turn-by-turn basis. Will the people of Earth eventually become an interstellar power? Or will they unwittingly pick a fight with the wrong alien race and find themselves in chains, working in the new T'Tridd strip-mine just outside the crater that was once New York City or Paris? Only time will tell. As stated previously, it is still in development. I have very little free time, unfortunately, and since I am the only active developer, I am a bit overwhelmed and have trouble staying focused long enough on any one aspect to push the project forward quickly. Not to mention I have no programming skill, though I am not mathematically challenged. I write this to ask if anyone might be interested in joining the project. Most of my work is on paper, and transferring 8 years of sporadic work into electronic form is tedious work, so little is available for immediate download and discussion, but I have begun a workgroup on eGroups (now yahoo groups). It can be found at the URL: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/adastra-scs If interested, please join the group at that address. I may contact you directly at that point, as I am the moderator and must approve all new members. Up
