New: the 7th Fleet (free, open-ended, email, human, space, rpg, abstract) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Sat, 20 Jan 2001 08:13:00 +0000 Name: the 7th Fleet Email: paxlar@subspacerelay.co.uk Frequency: at least once a fortnight Type: Star Trek URL: http://www.subspacerelay.co.uk Costs: nothing Last-Update: 2000Oct28 Keywords: free, open-ended, email, human, space, rpg, abstract Description: The year is 2376, the combined fleets of the United Federation of Planets the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Star Empire have at last ended the Dominion/Cardassian Alliances' subjugation of the Alpha Quadrant, the battle for Cardassia Prime saw the Alliance shattered as it took its last stand, it was ripped even from within as the Cardassians turned on their once allied Dominion and Breen brothers in arms. Now it's post Dominion war, an uneasy peace has settled between the three major powers once united against a common enemy, all three were badly affected by the catastrophic tactics of the Dominion so a time of rebuilding has begun, it will take time to resurrect what was lost but all three powers know that if they are to stand proud once again they must keep their pacts with the neighbouring Empires. The question is can they really stay at peace, a Klingon proverb stands aloft in the High Council chambers "If a Klingon does not fight, he does not breath" the abrupt end to the war has left the Klingons on a bloody high, the song of victory and battle still singing in their veins. The Romulans are more than ever conscious of the growing threat to their borders by the Klingons now that Cardassia is out of the way, the aftermath of the war has now seen a strong bond grow between the Federation and Klingons, one that has the Tal Shiar on high alert, sending operatives to watch for potential threats that this new friendship could bring. The Federation was the worst effected by the Dominion war they were in it from the start and now their fleets are depleted of manpower and starships themselves, many worlds were lost to the Dominion and they are faced with the harder task of re-constructing worlds scorched by the retreating Dominion armies. That is why the U.S.S Cougar was commissioned, to patrol and protect the shattered remnants of the Federation, watching for threats from new and old enemies, led by the strong leadership of Captain Paxler, the aging man who fought long and hard in the Dominion war with his XO and long time friend Hamilton at his side the starship has been reassuring the bewildered Members of the Federation that if the time comes they are still capable of taking on any foe that is watching the Federation with greedy eyes, joined by the Heavy Escort ship, U.S.S. Valiant under the command of the young and newly promoted Lt Commander Kosh they make the 7th Fleet, two vessels comprised of the most highly skilled and dedicated Starfleet Personnel the Fleet has to offer, keeping the Romulans away from the Federation is no easy task, but who knows how willing the Romulans are for war, or even if the Romulans are ready for it, there will be one enemy ready though, where will this enemy be from, this old enemy with new tricks that has risen from the gulf of time and space. The Delta Quadrant, vastly unexplored by any of the civilisations from our part of the Galaxy, not because it is out of reach or uninhabited, in fact its full of billions, especially of one species on an eternal quest for perfection.... the Borg, the collective watched silently as the Alpha and Beta Quadrants were torn apart by a war which ravaged the powers, seeing its weakness now more than ever before, it sees it's chance to strike, first it was small skirmishs along the borders, probing, testing, now it is ready. This is the most perilous time the Federation has had to face since its founding in 2161, the well known treacherous Romulan eyes buide their time till they are large and willing enough to show the Galaxy it stands and rules alone, however who will breach the void of space first, the cloaked ships of the Romulans or the silent and one voice of the Borg, assimilating all that cross its path, and its path is unavoidable.
