Amazing, they can invent ways of reaching new galaxies, but they can't give us quality earpieces. "Roger that General, over" Marcia Shoffner's sultry voice came back cool as ice. "Prepare for jump, we're about to become historical heros, over" John's voice came back. Johns heavily padded thumb touched the coverplate of the ignition switch for the Artinova reactor. He briefly thought of his daughter and his wife with one on the way. Their images flashed through his mind and he smiled. He would see them soon, a few months, he already couldn't wait. They had talked on the com-sat last night, or day, in space there was neither. Just expanses of endless time. "All systems go General...General...GENERAL!" Marcia's voice wasn't as sultry as it ripped John back into reality. "Right right. Let's go then." His thumb flipped up the coverplate. There was the switch, red, he pressed his thumb to it, feeling it's power. He had gone through this motion nearly 100 times in the simulator, but now he felt the true power of the machine. For a brief fleeting moment that seemed an everlong eternity man and machine connected as he applied just enough pressure to send the toggle switch into the up position. Time seemed to slow to a snail's crawl as the CLICK of the switch fell heavily into his ears. At first nothing seemed to happen and Majors wondered if something was wrong, but suddenly a surge of power exploded from the rear of the ship. He felt his whole mass being pressed into the seat. Then the ship began to shake. Routine, he thought. You can't go at speeds this high without experiencing this kind of turbulence. Then he heard the explosion and before he could turn his head to see the cause, his entire body was engulfed in white hot heat. There were only brief flames as the fire consumed all of the oxygen on board and then was extinguished in the void of space. The small fragments of the ship floated amongst the rest of the space rubble. Timeline: 2163 After the explosion of the first Artinova reactor skeptics still have their doubts. In fact Inworld has had a hay-day wreaking whatever havoc they can upon further projects such as Artinova. However there comes a point where there is no choice. Earth has reached carrying capacity and it's time something is done. Artinova-2 is born. Now it's up to you to be a part of the crew that will save Earth.
