This desolate area is so hostile to life that no humanoids have ever been able to settle there. Expeditions into the region seldom return, while those that do bring tales of horrific monsters and impossible climate changes. A literal hell on earth, there is no chance of survival. Yet, what the everyday folk of Bereny do not know is that life does exist, even thrives, beneath the surface of the Broken Lands. There, in the dank depths, there is a gargantuan stretch of underground tunnels and caves which the adventurers of Bereny would call the Mother of All Dungeons if only they knew of its existence. Perhaps you became lost while travelling in Bereny? Perhaps you were attacked and kidnapped by some monstrous race who make their home in the Broken Lands? Perhaps you are a part of a lost expedition to explore the region. Whatever the case, you find yourself destitute and alone, stranded beneath the earth below the most inhospitable region known to man. Can you survive in the labyrinth? Have you the skills, determinion and perseverence to stay alive, gain skills and equipment, band together with other survivors for mutual support and safety? Possibly even to escape the nightmare and return to the civilised Kingdom of Bereny? This is the challenge that faces you as you take your first steps into the vast underground world that lies beneath the surface of the Broken Lands. What Is It All About? The Broken Lands is a sub-module of a huge fantasy adventure game called DungeonWorld. The main DungeonWorld game is a commercial turn-based play-by-mail game.
