New: Mortis Maximus 2 (free, open-ended, email, computer, fantasy, sports) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Thu, 22 Mar 2001 20:13:00 +0000 Name: Mortis Maximus 2 Email: madcentral@aol.com Frequency: 7 / 10 / 14 days Type: Fantasy Sports Management URL: http://www.mortismaximus.com Costs: Free Last-Update: 2001Feb14 Keywords: free, open-ended, email, computer, fantasy, sports Description: Mortis Maximus is a football management game based around the unruly fantasy sport, Bloodball (which in turn is in no way based - not even for satirical intent - on another popular boardgame with a similar-sounding name that you have probably never played, seen or even heard of so forget I mentioned it). Players take on the unenviable challenge of converting an extraordinarily unskilled collection of randomly-chosen slaves into a fan-pleasing squad of Bloodball heroes, without getting kneecapped by loansharks or repossessed by the sinister Slave Priests of Zarn. At its core, Mortis Maximus is a challenging combination of sports theory and financial management. Never fear, though - in true Madhouse fashion, the dry technical foundations are built upon by a simple framework of rules, some stupendously bad jokes and a mountain of statistics (not all of which are necessarily entirely what they seem). Each turn, you will receive a report which details how your team fared in this week's match. Did you win or lose? How many players are still in one piece? Did you make enough gold from merchandising and gate takings to cover the loan repayments? Can you afford to outfit your slammers with the latest in grey market personal enhancements? Can you afford not to? And most important of all, have you climbed the league ladder, or are you languishing in last place? Mortis Maximus 2 is the advanced sequal to its award-winning predecessor and is (for the first time) offered entirely for free when played by email. Postal play costs 2.00 a turn. We would ask, though, that only those with genuine interest apply, since we don't want to sign up a load of time wasters who just like the word 'free' (we have a special cellar for you guys, full of spiders and undead.)
