New: Journey to Freedom (free, open-ended, email, human, historical, abstract) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Fri, 01 Jun 2001 07:13:01 +0000 Name: Journey to Freedom Email: limpfanatic_2000@yahoo.com Frequency: one per two weeks Type: Oregon trail historical URL: http://jtf.cjb.net Costs: free Last-Update: 2001May29 Keywords: free, open-ended, email, human, historical, abstract Description: The year is 1846. On a balmy afternoon, April the 27th, a small group set out for Oregon in wagons, eleven total. They're a jumble of people, the odd ones out who had no one else to travel with, and out of desperation to journey west, grouped together and formed their strange but determined train. They are headed to Oregon for many different reasons; for freedom, to start a new life, to get away from painful memories, or to just start over. They'll be leaving from Independence, a Missouri River town. Getting to Oregon should take them four to five months - six would be risking death. During this time there will be deaths, births, love, and hate. Discoveries will be made, some unwelcome. They will all become hardened by the road. Large, kind, strong oxen pull the wagons. They bring so much food, they cannot sit in the wagons most of the day because the oxen couldn't handle the extra weight, and have to walk the dusty, dirty roads. When choosing your character, try to give him/her a good reason for leaving Independence. Also try to develop distinct character traits, as well as a defined history. Are they traveling alone?, with family?, are they leaving anyone special behind?, you know. . . give your character a life. This helps to shape events and stories when writing. Our simulation is rated PG-13. It is a historical PBeM, as you probably guessed :) no previous experience is required, and the posting limit is once every two weeks. Hope we meet on the trail.
