Description:

There are 2 major differences between Destiny of Empires and other PBEM
strategy games:

-Modern politics apply. For example, looting, rape, and using civilians as
defence shields(or burning them)is a war crime. So is hiring terrorists to
set villages on fire. Something similiar to the United Nations exists in
this game.

-Deities. You have gods and goddesses, and you need to worship them, lest
they send down disasters to destroy your kingdom. Each deity has his/her
own religion, and you can choose to make a single dominant religion in
your empire, thus honouring the deity greatly. Or you can choose to ignore
the deity, thus bring shame to him/her(and bringing hell onto your
empire).

Or, you can be a deity if you choose to.

Let me firstly explain what Destiny of Empires is about. Destiny of
Empires is a "games-within-a-game" style of strategy game. You do not have
to be a supreme ruler of a nation, you can be a diplomat working for your
own cause, a general with an ambitious(and backstabbing)streak, or
even...*gasp*...a god!(or goddess, depending on your gender).

As an Emperor, you need to cater to the needs of your peasants, the greed
of your nobility, and the demands of other kingdoms....while attending to
your mighty army.

As a General, you command an army in the service of an empire. You
commando and control their battles, and lead your men to victory or
defeat. Balancing power with charisma, you need to keep your troops happy
lest they become demoralised in battle.
Of course, some generals may become too ambitious....and jealousy of the
Emperor's position may lead them to do less than savoury things to become
Emperor themselves....

As a Diplomat, you want 2 things: money, and a powerful empire. To achieve
this, you need to lie and deny, two things that diplomats are good at.
Don't letmorality get in the way; politics and morality don't mix.
Again, some Diplomats may become just a tad bit too ambitious....and
decide that they are fit to rule the Empire...

As a Deity, you have a great task before you. Not only do you need to be
worshipped and respected by the lowly Earth-dwellers, and acquire
magnificent riches sacrificed to you by your loyal minions, you need to
compete with every other deity for wealth and loyalty. Will you take the
dark path, and threaten civilizations with death and destruction should
they fail to worship you? Or should you take the light path and send
blessings to those below your feet?
