A city that is full of culture, excitement, diversity, creativity and the beings of human myth and legend. That�s right, the runway model on the billboard may be a Faerie. Your son�s teacher may shapeshift under a full moon�s light. The mysterious owner of Delerium, that fancy new dance club, may be Kindred, or a vampire as we like to say. And those aren�t the only things out there. Human beings haven�t been alone for a very long time. In fact all those creatures I was talking about, live right along with the rest of us paying taxes, and governed by laws. They have been since the Preternatural Act. Though these supernatural creatures, the earth�s original rulers, have been out in the open for the past couple of hundred years and half of the world is fascinated with them, the other half isn�t. That latter half wants them dead because of the power they could wield if the right key was turned. When you join our world, you can select your own persona. Are you one of the humans? Are you a member of the Satinumah, a hunter sent to extinguish the preternatural? A curious student with, perhaps, an investigative skill that might prove to be too good? A newcomer to the city, trying to make a fresh start, only to become a pawn of darker forces? Or are you one of the Awakened creatures? A Fae, trying to break the humans' mental restraints that lock them into an existence devoid of magic? A vampire, savoring the blood of humanity while waging war on your common enemies? A shapeshifter, seeking others of your kind in the heart of the city and facing strong adversity? Or are you something else? All are struggling for power of this Realm, as a terrifying prophecy has come to pass. The only question that remains is which side are you on. Permanent Midnight is a freeform Play by E-mail, in the horror genre, and set in the present day. It is a role playing game in so far as you play a character, thinking and acting as that character would act. But more than that it is a writers game - the description and narrative are as important as each plot and the main story.
