WEFS (SOCCER PBEM) LOOKING FOR NEW MANAGERS From: "Timo Ojala" <timo.ojala@oulu.fi> Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2001 18:57:24 +0000 WEFS (Weekly Electronic Football Simulation) is looking for new managers for season 8, which is scheduled to start in late October. WEFS is completely free! WEFS is a "traditional" PBEM, which combines long-term resource management and short-term game management. Each player manages a team, which comprises of a coaching staff and up to 25 players, which have properties such as age, skill, talent, resilience, performance level, etc. Long-term management deals with making optimal use of limited resources in developing a competitive team, and short-term management with putting together good match orders for upcoming games. WEFS comprises of four divisions of 16 teams. A 30 match regular season is played in each division, one match per week. A knock-out Cup tournament including all 64 teams is interleaved with the regular season. A World Cup tournament, where club teams form national teams based on the nationalities of the club managers, is played every other season. The minimum weekly time investment needed to play is probably around 5 minutes, but we do have managers who spend numerous hours finetuning their match orders and long term plans. All communication takes place in form of email, although match results and supporting documentation is also made available at the WEFS web site http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~skidi/WEFS/. If you are interested in joining WEFS, please send me a Novice roster complying with the format described in the 'team creation' section of the Rulebook, direct link: http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~skidi/WEFS/Current%20Season/Documents/The%20Rulebook. The deadline for Novice rosters is Friday October 19th. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to pull my sleeve. Best regards, Timo Ojala WEFS Commissioner Up
