Description:

Sitting in the luxurious lounge of Pendleton's Global Explorer's Club, Horatio
van Pelt regaled his audience with a tale of one of his adventures, thick
cigar
in one hand smoldering, snifter of brandy in the other waving about as he
described the situation.

"So there I was, back against the wall, party off running for their lives.
The Webley was useless, as the humidity had gotten to the primers, all
seven of
them.  I had my trusty old double rifle, but I was still reloading it after
chasing off that bloody great cat.  This critter had sized me up, found it's
position, and was starting it's charge.  I did the only thing that I could,
snapped the breach shut with only a single round in place, lined up
between it's
eyes, and let fly.  Luckily, it had never seen a proper British lord, so that
one shot was all I needed."

One of the newer members of the club looked around the room at the various
trophies and portraits hangingthere.

"So where's it hanging?  Anything that dangerous, I simply must see.'

van Pelt shook his head, blowing a fresh plume of cigar smoke into the air.

"Oh, I'm afraid that there's naught to see.  I'm afraid that shooting a
pirahna
with an elephant gun doesn't leave a great deal, what?"

He trailed off as one of the liveried servants approached, a silver tray
extended with a single crisp envelope centered upon the etched surface.  The
adventurer transferred the cigar to his mouth, and accepted the envelope,
muttering a minor gratitude to the man as he placed the snifter on a small
table. Opening the envelope, he extracted a sheet of paper, and skimmed
through
the neatly written message.  His face lit up, and he leaped to his feet.
Without a word to the assembled people, he strode from the room, his shoes
sinking sharply into the carpeted floor.  He made his way to the upper level,
and stepped past the entrance to the steam room, entering a room marked with a
simple sign, "Artemis Ascendent".  A different servant stood ready, and was
rewarded with the envelope being brusquely handed to him.

"I'll need you to contact the Travel Ministry, and make arrangements for my
voyage.  Destination is there, as well as the timetable.  Something suitable,
steamer ship, air ship, perhaps a berth on the Congo Express once we make
it to
the continent.  Send a porter to my residence, and collect my travelling
trunks.  Tell Punjab that he's needed, and to not forget the lined ammunition
cases."

As van Pelt spoke, he shrugged out of the smoking jacket and wool suit,
pulling
a new set of clothes from a locker.  As he began switching over to the new set
of clothing, the servant looked to him questionably.

"Something come up, sir?"

van Pelt spun in place, finishing fastening the belt that wrapped about his
white outfit.  As an after thought, he pulled the pair of high boots from the
locker, and began stomping into them.

"Only the best news, my boy.  The one purpose that a real man has anymore,
other than war, of course. Safari!"

Finishing his bootwork, he slid a bandolier full of massive bullets across his
chest, strapped the venerable Webley pistol onto his belt, and pulled the
double barreled rifle out, breaking it open and peering down the length of
the breach.

"Adventure, here we come!"
