News from IAAPA From: "Jochen Gippert" <gippert@web.de> Date: Mon, 08 Oct 2001 06:33:05 +0000 Greetings Warriors! IAAPA presents you some facts about our Association and from now on we will report on a regular basis about recent events at IAAPA. First a short introduction. IAAPA - the International Axis and Allies Players Association, is the oldest Axis and Allies On-Line Gaming Organization in the world! We have many members looking for opponents, so you will always find someone with the time to play the game you want to play - live or via E-mail, with or without the CD-ROM. IAAPA provides many features for its members including: access to a comprehensive statistical database, a Game Log Archive with nearly 10000 games, Message Boards, a Strategy Area, and much much more. One of IAAPA's newest and most innovative features is the ITSL, the IAAPA Team Super League. In ITSL, teams of three compete against each other over a series of games through the year. Are you are tired of playing on your own? The ITSL actively encourages discussion between teammates about games in progress. Share your thoughts, and learn from your team as you play. Form a team and join the fun! And now to the news section: 1) IAAPA announces the introduction of two new tournaments: The Baptism of Fire Challenge, a tournament solely for lower ranked players, and the Veteran's Classic, for mid- to high and mid ranked players. 2) The Strategy section is in the process of being redesigned and improved. The first section concerning the USSR, has already been released. 3) A new Legislature was elected four weeks ago, and is already very busy on behalf of the Association membership, providing a voice for the members in government. 4) The latest issue of the Armchair General's Revue, the Association's official newsletter, is now available. Make sure you check it out at the homepage's Ezine section <http://www.axisandallies.net/public/periodicals.html>. 5) The tournament schedule for 2002 is as follows: Mid/Late January 2002 Masters Invitational (top 16 IAAPA players, seeded) 2002 Veteran's Classic (high / mid ranked players, seeded) 2002 Baptism of Fire Challenge (lower ranks, unseeded) March/April 2002 ITSL season begins April 2002 Spring Classic (open for all, unseeded) July 2002 Summer Open (open for all, seeded) October 2002 Fall Classic (open for all, unseeded) 6) A special event was started some days ago: Rivals on the Rhine! This is an interclub tournament between the german A&A internet club DAAK and IAAPA. Check IAAPA's tournament section for more information on the tournament. 7) A new Local Chapter has formed in Fresno, California. Everyone who is interested in face-to-face play is invited. You can contact the Local Chapter by email.
