Description:

"E Pluribus Unum" is a play-by-email (PBeM) sim designed to replicate the
federal government of the United States of America with players in the
executive, legislative, and judicial brances. The game will cover
everything from foreign and domestic policy to executive-legislative power
struggles to judicial intervention.

Players will choose from a myriad of positions within all three branches
of the U.S. federal government. They will then be required to execute the
duties vested in that official in the real government and respond
appropriately to issues brought up in the weekly game news reports.

The demand on players in "E Plurius Unum" will be higher than in other
political sims. "E Pluribus Unum" will heavily emphasize writing skills
and frequent posting. Unlike other games, there will be no "actions"
submitted or promotions (however should a person leave or a positions open
up otherwise, candidates that have been the most active and have superior
writing skills will be given preference). Instead, players will focus more
on developing their writing skills, expanding their knowledge of the
United States government, and above all, having fun!

Players will write posts concerning issues brought up in the weekly News
Reports (issue posts), as well as character development posts. Issue &
character development posts can be speeches, dialogue-based, letter-based,
etc. Posts may be made in any format, except for "news" formats (i.e.
Washington Post, Reuters, CNN news, etc.).

When writing issue posts, players must keep in mind party politics,
Presidential policies, and previous actions. The GM reserves the right to
revoke posts that deviate too far from the aforementioned without just
reasoning.

The sim will somewhat mirror the real world, with real life news being
taken into account in the game. What will and will not be observed in the
game will be posted by the GM in a report issued every Monday and
Thursday. The executive branch will have both domestic and foreign issues
to address, the legislative branch will have resolutions to submit,
debate, and/or vote on, and the judicial branch will have various cases to
deal with and precedents to set.

News Reports will be issued using the Washington Post, the New York Times,
CNN News, and various other print and television news programs.

"Elections" will be held at random points throughout the game, to be
announced by the GM. The results of the elections will be determined by
taking into account the activity of a player, the quality of their posts,
the political weight working for/against them, and their recent
performance in the eye of the public. You can be removed from office if
your posting is low, your quality is low, you have acted poorly in the eye
of the public, and/or there is enough political influence working against
you.
