Description:

Hornblower's Navy 1814 Campaign takes place during the last year of
the War of 1812. Players are members of the Royal Navy either serving as
officers or commanding their own ship on the Bermuda Station. The game
combines role playing and wargaming. Role Playing aspects include creating
a character with attributes, skills, and a reasonable background. You will
find social skills can be just as important as seamenship when it comes to
getting a choice assignment or a favor from the Port Admiral. Battles will
be resolved using Ship of the Line Miniatures rules; player characters
will have major impact through ship handling, gunnery and boarding
actions. History may or may not repeat itself: players might be present at
Historical Actions such as the Bombardment of Fort McHenry, the Burning of
Washington, and the Battle of New Orleans. Alternate History options could
include a more Hawklike Congress authorizing construction of the American
74's or even the massive three decker USS Pennsylvaina. Is your frigate a
match for Old Ironsides the USS Constitution rated a 44 but actually a 55.
After all she's just a bunch of pine boards under the striped
bunting...right? And of course lets not forget Napoleon will he escape
from Elba earlier or perhaps not at all.
     Hornblowers Navy is a resumption of an earlier game that took place
at the start of the war. The Web site is in the process of being updated,
but character creation information is posted and turn results from the
earlier game are present. Interested then drop me an E-mail. We will get
you started creating a character and arrange for your Leftenant's Exam and
posting to one his His Majesty's Ships on the Bermuda Station.
