Not your usual pbem game. Players run "Interests", abstract groupings of political, economic, or social nature with specific goals and abilities, each seeking its own agenda while cooperating and competing with the other Interests in the colonization of a planet. Typical interests include "Finance", "Manufacturing", "Academia", "Agriculture", "The Military", "Tourism", "The Church" and "The Fringe". Each has a level of influence in the non player government. None stand alone- each player has unique goals but needs the other interests' support. Each may create "Propositions" which are then voted upon by the players. Interests also make deals, recruit colonists from a long list of types, and perform whatever other actions they want as they contribute (in their own fashion) to the colonization of a planet. The colony acquires a life of its own from the interactions of players with differing goals, strategies, priorities, and abilities. The background was generated from 2300AD, but no knowledge of this game is needed. It is science fiction based, but relies mostly on "forseeable" technology and known science, not magic. Hovercraft churn the water while cargo from starships arrives via "drop pod". No transporters or telepathy here. The game has been ongoing for some time, and is currently in its second incarnation. Want to colonize a world? Check us out for a "thinking" game. [ This is a new entry for the PBM List.
