New: The GOALS Premiership (free, open-ended, www, mixed, modern, sports) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Thu, 28 Mar 2002 08:13:11 +0000 Name: The GOALS Premiership Costs: free URL: http://www.gprem.com Frequency: one or two per week, August to May Email: ollie@sportingmem.co.uk Type: online fantasy football Last-Update: 2002Mar24 Keywords: free, open-ended, www, mixed, modern, sports Description: The GOALS Premiership is a fantasy football league based on the English Premiership. The first season began in August 2001, and at the time of writing is nearing its conclusion. The fixtures occur on a weekly basis (with occasional variations, as in real life), and there is a Cup competition. The seasons begin in August and finish in May, leaving June and July as a period where managers may be appointed, summer transfers negotiated and friendlies arranged. The GOALS Premiership operates on the superior ESMS freeware, and has its own web site as listed above, which is the hub of all operations. Managers are given comprehensive statistics and are encouraged to take an active part in the simulation's 'media culture' - reactions to match scorelines, confirmation or denial of transfer rumours, press releases on all newsworthy aspects of club life etc. The GOALS Premiership will accept anyone who wishes to become a manager, of any level of experience. All that is asked is that managers are: a) Dedicated b) Online regularly c) Willing to get involved in the community spirit a little As the league closely models the real-life Premiership, there are just 20 clubs. You are advised to check the website or email the commissioner to find out more about vacancies. If we are in the unfortunate position of not being able to offer a vacancy, we will gladly keep a note of all applicants and notify them when a position becomes available. The simulation is entirely free. [ This is a new entry for the PBM List.
