New: Modern Political Sim (free, open-ended, email, human, modern, wargame, rpg) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Sat, 18 May 2002 19:13:00 +0000 Name: Modern Political Sim Costs: Free Frequency: once a week Email: danny83@zonnet.nl Type: Modern Wargame Last-Update: 2002May15 Keywords: free, open-ended, email, human, modern, wargame, rpg Description: Tensions are rising in South East Asia as Chinese military forces continue to conduct excersises near the Vietnamese border. Apparently, they have no intentions to stop the excersises after the "incident" last week, when several artillery shells were accidentally launched over the border. While Vietnamese politicians are restraining themselves not wanting to provoke their Chinese neighbours into a full scale war, they stand their ground and do not give in to the Chinese demands: disband the South East Asian defence alliance that remains a potential threat to China's increasing influence. In Sydney, scientists celebrate and champagne bottles were opened at the successful prototype launch of a deep pressure pod in the Pacific Ocean. First striking a deal with the Russians for old Soviet space shuttle material, now gaining access to modern, American deep pressure technology, the Australian/Brazilian team of scientists is making great progress. Their goal? To build the first underwater colony. Or so they claim. Could it be that they are building the world's most fearsome submarine? Combining the technology of the old Soviet Empire and the United States of America? Meanwhile, in the warm, lush nation of Nigeria, a Marxist revolution has taken place some 10 months ago. Now firmly in position of power, General Ousmane claims to have the democratic support of the majority of the population as he and his newly formed General Committee seized all national assets and are forwarding economical motion after economical motion. Investing heavily in Nigeria's vast pool of under-exploited natural resources. It seems that they are making great progress, establishing a strong economical Nigeria and increasingly winning international support with their tireless attempts to maintain peace throughout Africa. And their voice is not one to be disregarded in the halls of the United Nations' Assembly. But is this General Committee really as peaceful as they claim to be? Or are they only investing in domestic industries with an eye out towards a future filled with warfare and armed liberation of comrades-in-arms throughout Africa? Military, technology, economy. Those are but three paths you can chose to walk. Three paths that lead to the ultimate goal: National Interest. Whether you decide to strong arm your neighbours into doing your bidding, or whether you decide to use your sharp tongue and make your presence be felt in the fields of politics is entirely up to you.
