Nah, I'm not interested in that.  Role-playing is something best done with
friends, I think, and that's why the games I've played in have failed, in
my opinion: there were no underlying real-life loyalties.

I recruited my more successful game's players from a larger, established
organization - many knew one another fairly well already (albeit online
only), so they know they have to say goodbye when they leave!  Turnover
has strengthened the game rather than weakened it as more capable players
from the same pool replace less capable ones.

Half-assed is half-assed.  Someone who closes their game without notice is
a bad GM.  In this case, just a bad GM who's not under any official
contract.  Obligations are not purchased with money alone, you know, and
games are not bought by one person and sold by another, but played by
both - my players (combined) must put as much time into the game as I do,
so I owe them just as they owe me.

I DO pay for games, in print; I give games as gifts - I'm not at all
tight.  But, I think of gaming as something shared, not paid for (although
some of my players have vowed to buy me beer, which I will accept lest it
go to waste).  So, I'll stick to games run by people I know, or people
they know.  Money's not the only way people are tied together.
