New: United Pro Hockey League (UPHL) (free, open-ended, email, mixed, modern, sports) From: lindahl@pbm.com (Greg Lindahl) Date: Sat, 09 Nov 2002 08:14:38 +0000 Name: United Pro Hockey League (UPHL) Costs: Free URL: http://www.geocities.com/mwjon2/UPHLhome Frequency: At least 3 times a month Email: mwjon2@yahoo.com.au Type: Ice Hockey Sim League Last-Update: 2002Nov05 Keywords: free, open-ended, email, mixed, modern, sports Description: The UPHL is a Hockey League, with a Franchise development focus, seasons are played about once a month. With free agent signings, players leaving, blockbuster trades and blue chip draft picks. All this to try to take your team to the cup! Expansion franchises are always available! Participation can be light or heavy, depending on you. There are a few rules and strategy points to master. If any of this sounds worth a half hour of your time once a month, give it a go. Itll be far better with a lot of teams (admittedly not for me). There are a few steps per season - 1 - Submit team sheet to commissioner with line placings and goalie games 2 - Receive stats sheet from commissioner. Stats sheet shows points scored (alloted into goals and assists) and PIMs. Goalie stat sheet shows games won and lost, shutouts and GAA. Top teams contest playoffs and awards are given. 3 - Free agency. Random players will be chosen from teams (sorry!). 4 - Bid on free agents. Allocation will be determined on strength of demand, (if Ive taken your favourite player, just make your desire to have him back very obvious) strength of lists (a team with no 6 rated players will be more likely rich enough to afford a good free agent). 5 - Trading period. Its more interesting if managers trade players and draft picks regularly. Trades not official till reported. Take a long term view - if you suck, go to the draft and rebuild. If youre nearly at the top, get some veterans in to push you to the cup. 6 - Adjust lists for rookie draft. Dump players you dont want anymore. Some retirements will be forced. 7 - Rookie draft. Lowest finishing team first. 8 - Go to 1 Ill need a team city from the United States or Canada and a team name. So I can put you into divisions.
