Flagship 100's out From: Carol Mulholland <carol@flagship-pbm.co.uk> Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 22:26:46 +0000 Yup, the hundredth issue of Flagship has now reached its readers. If I tried to pat myself on the back about this I couldn't reach the keyboard, so I'll just say thanks to everyone who's contributed to this special issue and to our previous ones. We've gone up to 60 pages, quite a few in colour. PBM articles cover new games and old: Dungeonworld, Destiny, Lords of the Earth, Legends, StarFleet Warlord and the new Middle-Earth scenario, Battle of the Five Armies. We also publish our annual list of players' ratings. For online gaming there's an article on Asheron's Call and another exploring Yahoo's initiative in renting out computer games. For boardgames, we've reviews of Age of Steam, and the expansion sets for Lord of the Rings and Starfarers of Catan, and also an account of new games discovered at Spiel '02. For tabletop gaming there's a review of recent d20 releases. Plenty of other news and chat, too, including lots of players' comments about the games they play. What else? Our founder Nick Palmer reveals all about the early days of FLAGSHIP. There's a free CD with details of Battle of the Five Armies plus a sample copy of Flagship on it (part of an advertising campaign that's also going out to UK shops). Last but not least, there's a generous special offer for the new area of Dungeonworld. I'm happy to have produced an edition which reflects the liveliness of games and their players. Subscriptions are possible through our website. But I'll send a free sample copy of a recent issue (not 100 itself!) to anyone who's not seen FLAGSHIP before and who emails me with his/her postal address. Best wishes to all for the festive season - Carol www.pbmgames.com Up
