A sudden population burst in both the Northern and Southern weyrs 15 turns before the 9th Pass filled them to capacity. What seemed a great start to the 'restocking' of the weyrs to fight thread was soon discovered to be a mixed blessing. As they became full, the Queens clutches became smaller and smaller, falling from an average of 35 to around five to eight each clutch, just two years before thread was to begin its Fall. The original population explosion was enough to have plenty of riders for the first years of the Pass, however those dragons would be nearing fifteen turns by the time the first Thread fell. At a meeting of the weyrleaders, it was decided to try one last plan, similar in concept to the overcrowding that had caused the problem in the first place. Three islands in the South were selected, and development began to make the natural caves habitable for their new dragon and human populations. The junior weyrwomen were asked for three volunteers to found the new weyrs, and all of the weyrs agreed that the next three gold eggs would also be sent away. We are set now just after the opening of Atlantis Weyr, and the associated Atlantis Hold. Candidates for Tiernath's clutch are still being searched, including for the gold, and the eggs are set to hatch in about three sevendays. We are still looking for applications for Candidates, riders of all colors, Wingleaders, Headwoman, Lord and Lady Holder, and many other positions! So send in your sheets today!
