Tired of wondering what fork to pick up during one of those boring family dinners? Does the threat of the Moonriders of Ghenesh make you yawn and turn on the TV? Well, hop on your monster bike and head over to the Wastelands, a world in the Ask Not of Amber universe! The Wastelands...it's just like it sounds. A vast waste of Shadow, created when the Pattern was destroyed. Oberon failed. Random failed. Amber and Chaos are no more. All that is left is this furnace of existence, this forge where you become hard and strong to survive. Or maybe your mutations might save you... Maybe you'd like to carve out your own little empire amongst the Desolation of Rust. Or run from the cannibal gangs and glowing ghouls in the Desolation of Light, where the radioactive glow lights up the horizon. Or take your chances with the Machiavellian politics of the trade towns. It's all up to you. Don't try to walk there through Shadow, however. That's a thing of the dead past. Summon up a shadow storm and ride there in style. Interested? Well, gas up your horse and point your browsers to http://uk.geocities.com/goldfired/enclave/waste.htm See you in the desolations, and don't let the Warlord catch you... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once, they say, there was a land called Amber. And a place known as the Courts of Chaos. But no more - not since the last war, the Armageddon that shook the universe to its very foundations and brought their glittering citadels to ruin. Now there is only the Wastelands, a blasted desolation of dust, sand and ruin, populated by cautious nomads, ravaging gangs of bikers and worse, and, in the darkness, the mutant and the monster, ever hungry for flesh. They say, sometimes, that beyond the rad-deserts there is Cyberia, a metropolis of steep walls and strange technology, but if there is, you've never met anyone who's seen it*. Some even cling to the belief that there are the Shadows of the Enclaves, a paradise where the mutant and the zombie do not go**. Forget these dreams - they are the province of madmen and fools. For you, there is only the wastes, the shanty towns, the biker gangs and the wrought-iron gladiatorial cages. There is also Nexus, the one city of the Wastelands, domain of the Warlord, the one man whose iron fist can truly command all he surveys. Except for the Prophet, the whisperer in the dark, a shuffling viper whose words speak of salvation. But you are no ordinary nomad, no simple mutant. You are a Storm Lord, and yours is the power of the Shadow Storms. Yours is the power to walk in the burning rad-desert, the power to bring the chaos of the Wastelands under control and make it safe for those you choose to lead. In a land without masters, you are as close as it gets. But there is always something more - always the soldiers of the Warlord, always the twisted words of the Prophet. But these are only the start - in the Wastelands, your destiny is your own. * However ... see http://www.geocities.com/otterpoet/ ** http://uk.geocities.com/goldfired/enclave/index.htm Ask Not of Amber is a game in three parts. It's a development by the GMs of the game Ancient Roots, Young Branches (ARYB) which came to a triumphant conclusion in August 2002. The Enclaves and Cyberia are currently full (although people are welcome to lurk), but there are currently slots available in the Wastelands.
