Would this sort of PBEM interest you? From: "Keith Wade" <k.wade@ix.netcom.com> Date: Sat, 28 Jun 2003 05:50:39 +0000 I've been considering running a PBEM game, but wanted to find out if there would be any interest in the type of game I want to run before investing too much time in developing it. Players would take on the role of characters that have already been created to fit into certain roles that would be needed to start the initial campaign. The character's personality would only be vaguely defined, so the player would be able to develop the character however they wanted after the game got underway, but the initial character creation would already be done. The setting is modern day in a fictional town that is located on a supernatural "hot spot". I'm very loosely planning on using the D20 modern rules, but the rules won't play a huge part in the actual game play. I would be doing all of the necesary dice rolling, and the game would be centrally focused on telling a story. Don't get me wrong, there should be plenty of fighting, but players who are able to creatively continue the story will be rewarding more than players who simply write 1 sentence per turn and want to kill anything that moves. Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and/or Laurel K. Hamilton's Anita Blake, and Meredith Gentry books should find the setting very interesting. But enough of me babbling, and back to my point... how many of you would consider taking on a precreated role, and taking part in a more story based game? Up
