NEW BETA TEST - Abnormals - Superpowers in a world gone mad From: madcentral@aol.com (MadCentral) Date: Thu, 31 Jul 2003 14:36:21 +0000 Hi All, In August / September 2003, Madhouse uk hope to begin the beta test of our newest game from the acclaimed neXus PBM/PBEM engine, Abnormals. In the game players will take on super-powered characters of various types in an immense city landscape where they will be unleashed to find their fame or infamy, depending upon their chosen course. There's a Yahoo discussion group for interested parties who can ask questions, make suggestions and read all sorts of stuff about the game as it develops, as well as be the first to be offered playtest positions when it begins. The group can be found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/abnormalspbm Anybody reading this who is entered would be welcome as a member of the discussion group. Some initial info can be found on the games web pages at:- www.madcentral.com/abnormals When Abnormals is finally released it wil be a commercial game, but with some pretty exciting free-play options. Although plans are still being laid out, the current idea is that anybody will be able to play a single character completely for free for as long as they like. A few advanced options will be turned off for "free" characters, like the ability to form teams and suchlike, but beyond that they'll be able to adventure just like anybody else. Where Abnormals differs from other neXus games is in its heavy "team" background, although solo play will of course still be entirely possible. Who Are We? Madhouse UK are one of the world's leading commercial PBM firms and probably the *most* prolific PBM/PBEM design house. We've been running successful commercial games for over a decade and we are the moderators and designers of DungeonWorld (arguably the largest fantasy PBM/PBEM in the world) and Destiny, the hit pulp PBM/PBEM space opera. If any of this sounds interesting to you, please do check out the website and then... if you remain interested... join the Yahoo group. We'll look forward to seeing you there. If none of this sounds interesting at all then thanks for reading this far and my apologies for using up a minute or two of your life. <g> Steve Tierney Madhouse UK Up
