Are You Afraid Of...The Dark?

What if...everything you grew up believing were just stories and fairy
tales, were real?

What if...your worst nightmares were all true?

What if...monsters do exist?

And what if...it's your job to stop them?

The world of "The Dark" is very different from what you and I know.  Set
in the present, everyday world that passes us by, "The Dark" takes our
world and stands it on its ear. Vampires walk among us, Lycanthropes stalk
the streets and back alleys of major cities all over the Earth and dark
dimensions intersect with our own, releasing unspeakable horrors and
terror.

But for every evil, there is a force of good to oppose it. A group of
extraordinary people with extraordinary abilities who have banded together
to take the fight to those who would slay, subjugate and use us for their
own benefit. They are, appropriately enough, known only as..."The Dark".
they deal with the forces raging against us by any means necessary, even
if it costs them their very lives.

This is their story.

"The Dark" is an interactive, ever-growing collaborative novel.  Players
write out parts of the story, called "posts", and send them into the
game's email address.  The posts are then checked for spelling, grammar
and punctuation and sent out to the other players (On our private
distribution list) who reference it when writing a post of their own to
continue the story.  That's basically how it's done.   What is important
to remember is that this is a team effort
and everyone has a chance to contribute to the game.

What about "rules", you ask?  There aren't any, for the most part.  That's
the beauty of this particular game.  Your character can be anyone you
would like, basically.	The ONLY exception is that we would rather not
have any "omniscient" beings created for this venture.	It's not much fun
when someone can just snap their fingers and EVERY problem is solved.
Where's the adventure in that?
