Some of these games are quite expensive, some are cheap - figured you
might be broke or rich. The free games mentioned here are pretty
dependable - you are unlikely to have the game cut off in mid-play.

WWII - World at War (http://www.islandnet.com/~dgreenin/emg.htm - Free
and excellent)

Fantasy - Lots out there. I might suggest Atlantis (a free open source
game that is run on many servers out there - has simple rules).
Eldritch (http://www.pbegames.com - excellent and cheap at $2 per turn
with an EXCELLENT GM and player base, similar to Atlantis but has
richer rules). Legends (http://www.harlequingames.com/ - an extremely
rich and fun game but pricey at about $10 per turn. Also dramatically
favors more experienced players).
