Description:

In Realpolitik: The Balance of Power (R: BOP), you play the ruler of one
country among the many states of a continent of Pangea, an earth-like
planet. The fate and course of your nation will largely be up to you.

At the beginning of R: BOP, you will choose the starting condition of your
nation and through your choices (what military to build, what science to
develop, your interaction with the other nations of Romulus), the fate of
your nation will largely be up to you.

Your nation will be about technologically equivalent to that of Earth
around 1900. The steam engine, fired by coal, is the primary source of
transportation both on land and sea. Agriculture is still primarily animal
and human powered; though several new inventions are beginning to change
the way farming is done. Although the game is not on Earth, all animals
are Terrestrial and the only known intelligent race is humanity.

If humankind originated elsewhere, it is unknown where that origin point
was. Though several religions look toward Mecca, Jerusalem, or Rome, the
locations of these cities are unknown and usually assumed legendary. What
came before is shrouded in mystery among the many peoples of Romulus. Most
peoples maintain legends of a Great Journey, though from where is unknown.
Voyages in the last 200 years have shown that no major land masses exist
within 5000 km of your continent.
