The hallowed halls of Surathorn, with it's endless fields of trees, bearing the sweetest fruit ever tasted. It's streams of flowing wine, pastures of fat cows and swift horses. Nymphs skipping lightly through the glowing marble columns. The feasts ! The architecture ! The music ! It would take eternity to bore of its splendour. Unfortunately, its residents have been there for an eternity. The Gods are bored. To keep themselves interested, they play games against each other. Their playing field, the innocent Earth below them and the ant-like man who inhabit it. Sometimes the games a mere trifles, pitting the Fates of men against each other, just to see what would happen. But the Gods also draw their power from Men. From their belief, and their sacrifices and rituals. So what happens if a God pushes too hard to woo or dominate a rival's believers ? Is it possible to kill a God ? Pantheon is an open ended free-form roleplaying game. I will make decisions as to the outcome of conflicting actions. If things get heavy (as in the case of wars) then dice will be used, but all rolls will be kept secret. Players don't need to worry about stats etc. You do control a country, and you will be kept up to date in terms of large changes in population, but this is NOT a strategy or management game, it's an RPG. The geography of Pantheon will be original, but based heavily on Earth. So while we won't have Trojans or Celts, we will have races that are basically the ancient equivalent of any country you like. Want to play as feudal Japan ? Fine by me, just give it a different name. Ancient civilizations only. Basically in this game you play a God. In addition to living in Heaven, you will be the main deity of a country on the Earth, with about a million followers. Original ideas only, no 'real' mythological deities (Zeus, Loki, Apollo etc.). In the game, men have FREE WILL (feel free to debate this OOC). As a God you cannot direct human's actions directly. However, you can take the form of beasts or humans to talk (talking only) with people, or talk directly through priests or oracles. You can also create and give magical items, bless or curse people, summon monsters and control your chosen specialty (a Sea God can make storms, misdirect fleets, etc.) You can, however, interact directly with other Gods. Fighting, plotting etc. Think of the great polytheistic mythologies. All the politics and intrigue of Green, Roman, Chinese, Egyptian and Norse Gods and Demons.
