More insidious still is what they can do to you emotionally, mentally. After all, bruise the heart, batter the mind, attack the ego, and physical deterioration follows soon after like savage and ravenous wolves scenting blood. Soon, the tables will be turned on the Gnostikos, but what be left after that violent clash of wills?" The Gnostikos is a freeform RPG game played via StoryCrafter.com (follow the URL), and has nothing whatsoever to do with Gnosticism or the Gnostics. This game encourages proactivity and interaction between the characters, and players have a choice of 4 types of 'species', be it gnostikos, skiamakh, one of those that hunt the gnostikos (the Hundr), or human. Each will play their part, and a background plot will be going on at all times, subtly influencing the lives of all characters regardless of species. Players have a choice to be a drect part of that plot, but will be allowed to be influenced merely by the outcomes of the background if they choose not to take part in it directly. The details of the gnostikos, the skiamakh and the Hundr are provided as well, but only enough to outline what they are without compromising the player's creativity. As it is, the background plot is such: "After years, they have finally found all the parts of the Sphinota, painstakingly locating and collecting all the many pieces scattered all over the world by someone unknown who had wanted to permanently incapacitate who they believed was the First of the gnostikos. With the charred and ragged pieces, they reassembled the body of the Sphinota, and the parts fused together on their own, forming a charred and hideously burnt body, but a whole body nonetheless. All that was left to do was to revive him, and what other way to revive something that lived off emotional energy than to fill it with that same energy? In hopes of doing so, the gnostikos will hold a masquerade ball, luring oblivious humans into their midst to garner that energy from them. However, not all of the gnostikos will follow the gnostikos if he does indeed reawaken, they are divided and a brittle tension is growing. One who has led them for so long wishes to remain so, why should he give it over to the charred mummy of a gnostika? And aside from their internal struggles, there are the Hounds that nip at their feet, the humans who stalked them for one reason or the other, who called themselves the Hundr. These humans spend their time chasing after the gnostikos, whether to avenge their loved ones who have fallen prey to the gnostikos, or to find a way to break the 'enchantment' that holds the gnostikos' victims in a stone-like state. The Hundr are looking to crash their party, because this is the one chance they have of confronting so many of the gnositkos at one go. There are always reasons to a certain actions, however far-fetched, however bizarre, but is the assumed reason that the Sphinota had been incapacitated so completely before the right one? What of the one who did that to the Sphinota? Does he still walk the earth, and if so, what manner of creature is he?" [ This is a new entry for the PBM List.
