Getting random die rolls for a pbm game From: LK-HANNU@FINTUVM.BITNET (Hannu Pajunen) Date: Tue, 02 May 1989 14:00:28 +0000 Hey, you who play games by mail, please let me in to your secrets. What are the systems you use to convince your opponents you're not cheating with the die rolls? I know some people use the stock market exchange figures from a nespaper to generate random numbers, but that's not too feasible in an international game by mail when the players can't easily access the same newspapers. Is there a network server one could 'order' random dice rolls from? No? Well, maybe somebody would be willing to set one up? It seems to me that it wouldn't be too difficult. I'd do it myself, but as I'm currently in the process of starting a pbm game, I don't think my opponent would trust me, if the random numbers were from the same machine I work daily with. ;-) Regards, Hannu.
