Makes me think there's a vendetta or something. Aren't there any decent wars in other parts of Europe? Give me a break. France to England: Bratwurst sure sounds good to me. Italy to Turkey: I hope you aren't part of the parade heading my way. If so, the Austrians can always be revived. Italy to Austria: Got that, Austria? Spring '03 of the game RED STORM (BNC number 1989AB) (GM is MaryFW@cup.portal.com) Neither Russia or England submitted their orders, so both have been replaced. Deadline is next Sunday at 10 PM Eastern time. To put it mildly, I am not happy with these two players. ENGLAND: Eric@snark.uu.net/Eric S. If you all can't get your orders to me on time why should I bother getting the results done on time. I have the time sunday nights to get the results done the way they should be. I don't have the time mondays after getting home from work. < Mark > Spring '01 of NAVARONE (BNC number not known) (GM is Pwoodruf@orion.cf.uci.edu) Game delayed one week since one player lost e-mail access and had to be replace. Orders due Sunday the 6th at 10 PM EASTERN time. GM comments: I am interested in increasing our amount of players. IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME PLACE CLASSIFIED ADS IN THEIR UNIVERSITY NEWSPAPER, LET ME KNOW. Note that I lost a lot of people today, probably because of finals pressure, so now would be a great time to recruit some more people! Also remember that I do run postal games, this is especially important if you may lose Usenet access and don't want to switch over to Portal access. Time to archive my issues again! I will be archiving issues #21 - #50. Would Tilo O Levante, and Bruce Eric Bowers let me know when they have finished archiving the issues. (John Murray has let me know that he is done archving.) And if anyone is interested in an old issue, these are the people to contact. (List of old issues available upon request.) I am also now using a mailing list to directly mail this zine to all players, let me know if you are not getting it directly! Last week we got the following quiz Ordania-DM@cup.portal.com: Given the following, what is the outcome? Fra: A Bre-Spa, F Mao C A Bre-Spa Tur: F Spa(coast doesn't matter) S F Wme-Mao, F Wme-Mao Ita: A Tus-Spa, F Gol C A Tus-Spa Assume that there are no other piece on the board affecting the moves above. Here are the responses that I got: Jim@xn.ll.mit.edu: The outcome of the Dip moves you outlined should be a total stalemate with none of the pieces moving. Italy's moves causes the support from Spain to be cut. This in turn means the move into the MAO cannot dislodge the convoying fleet, so the convoy move succedes. However since there are 2 nations with equal power attacking Spain they fail and the Fleet there remains. Did I get it right? Daybell@aludra.usc.edu: No moves suceed. The Italian attack cuts the support, causing the Turkish attack to fail. The French attack is irrelevant. Matt@oddjob.uchicago.edu: I don't see what's so mysterious. The Italian army cuts the support and all moves fail. Laba-4hf@web.berkeley.edu: Hmmm.... My guess is that nothing happens! The army on Brest going to Spain cannot cut support that Spain is supplying on an attack on it's convoy. However, the army moving from Tuscany can. Thus, the support is cut and everyone stays where they are. Yaj@wdl1.fac.ford.com: I believe the correct resolution is: France: A Brest-Spain (fails), F MidAtlantic C A Brest-Spain Turkey: F Spain S F Western Med-MidAtlantic (cut), F Western Med-MidAtlantic (fails) Italy: A Tuscany-Spain (fails), F Gulf of Lyon C A Tuscany-Spain Turkish F Spain's support is cut by Italian A Tuscany. If the Italian units were not present, however, F Spain would NOT be cut and the Turkish move F Wes-Mid would succeed. (Convoyed armies don't protect their fleets.) The answer is .... You are all wrong! Just for the record, I got it wrong too. Rule XII.5 says the following: "A CONVOYED ATTACK DOES NOT CUT CERTAIN SUPPORTS. If a convoyed army attacks a fleet which is supporting an action in a body of water; and that body of water contains a convoying fleet, that support is not cut." According to this rule, NO convoyed attack will disrupt a support of an attack upon a convoy, even if the convoy is not the same. The result of the given example is that both the French and Italian moves fail, AND that Turkey succeeds in taking MAO. Thanks Ordania-DM@cup.portal.com for this great quiz! I am enjoying moderating this zine, keep that mail coming! Eric Klien Referenced By Up
