I like this concept as it would allow a faster rate of play and there
  wouldn't be any problems as far as having too many players from the
  same area.  It is the same as the "no negotiations" Diplomacy we used
  to play (when we were limited by time).  I will be starting a game using
  this modification on July 6th also if I have seven players by then.  Send
  me your email address, and list your country preferences.  All other rules
  will be played as straight diplomacy.  Any questions about the game or what
  I call "standard rules" can be directed to me by email.  I will assign
  countries by the following criteria:  If you are the first to respond then
  you will be playing your first choice.  If you are second, you will be
  playing your first choice unless it has already been assigned. ...

Gunboat Diplomacy is a Diplomacy variant where the players
 	play anonymously.  No negotiations are conducted.  All
 	communication must be conducted through legal moves.

Actions speak louder than words.  Alliances can be signaled
 	via support orders for one country's assistance against
 	another country.

Therefore a Gunboat game will require less time to play and
 	only the mail link to the GM is required.  Turns will be posted
	on Monday and Thursday afternoons so the turns will have to me
	to me by noon on those days.

 	The due date for the Spring 1901 season will be July 6th.
