Re: The Broad Axe Tavern 11:03am From: evil@blake.acs.washington.edu (Pure Evil) Date: Mon, 19 Jun 1989 17:21:54 +0000 A small, wide man with a large, wide face strides into the gloom of the Broad Axe. His mail jingles almost merrily as he walks. His large, curved sword slaps at his side. With a rush, he leaps onto one of the unoccupied tables, carelessly throwing aside his knapsack and cloak. His ugly face curls beneath countless scars into a grin, and he begins to sing in a strangely graceful voice: "I want to lie in fields of pure flowers. I want to hold my sweet lady fair. I want to lie down with my truelove And nuzzle her fragrant maiden's hair. "I'll carry her down by the babbling brook. I'll kiss her and tease her 'til dawn. I'll promise her diamonds and a sweet life together. And 'ere the quiet morning: I'll be long gone!" By the end of the song, most of the regular patrons are laughing hysterically. The barkeep shouts: "Tavlo, that was one of your better compositions." To which the singer replies: "Better that I compose than decompose." He leaps off the table, collects his gear, and begins to look for an open table. mail to: evil@blake.acs.washington.edu Up
