GERMAN TROOPS TAKE ROME! ITALIAN TROOPS BREAK AUSTRIAN LINES! FRANCE ATTACKED! The Anglo-German Juggernaut continues on. Germany is making short work of Italy, and England is taking away French Territories. England has taken Spain and can take Portugal at will. France seems to have to lose at least one supply center. German troops marched unoppoesd into Rome. There is little hope that the Italians can keep from losing at least one more supply center. German troops also moved into Tyrolia, in preparation for an attack on Venice. Italian forces destroyed the Austrian defenders in Vienna. This is a small consolation for Italy, and it puts Austria in grave peril. Italy may have just signed her own death warrant, and Austria's too. Russian forces again held off the Germans from Moscow. But with Turkish maneuvering, it looks as if Russia will be out of the game shortly. The new Turkish leader has brought his country from one of the weakest to third in short order. He may soon rival England and Germany in size. ============================================================================== _The Ankara Daily Ottoman_ Spring 1905 Edition Fidel Ottoman today announced several sweeping reforms aimed at bringing Turkey back into the mainstream of modern European life. Among the more major reforms are the banning of the fez. Quoted Fidel, "Those hats sure look silly! Everyone from now on will wear the fashionable fatigue hats." Fidel stopped short of requiring the wearing of green fatigues. Fidel has also brought about much needed reform of the Turkish military establishment. "We were naval heavy and it was all locked into the Black Sea region. At most we only needed one fleet there. As an army man, I felt compelled to overthrow the government and establish Command: the proper ground forces needed to wipe the Russian scum off the face of the Earth!" When asked about the rcent victories against Russia and the rampant rumor that they were the result of sneaky, under handed, deceptive overtures of peace, Fidel gasped, "Oh No! No! No! they were pure military genius, diplomacy had nothing to do with it." ============================================================================== -Steve (gm) Summer '05 of the game PEARL HARBOR (BNC number 1989AV) (GM is Adams@multiflow.com/Steve Adams) Austria disbanded A VIE There are no retreats. Lastest Update: Deadline not set yet, I will keep you informed. And could stewart winter contact the GM to make sure that his connection is secure? (We're having lots of fun with our e-mail connections in this game!) And if kschroe2@umdul.bitnet has sent you a codeword to prove a connection exists between you and him, please send me the codeword! GM comments: If anyone would be interested in going on some rollercoasters, let me know. And I have GM and player openings as usual. Also, we now have three zine archivers, they are bruce_eric_bowers@cup.portal.com, john_e_murray@cup.portal.com, and oliveb!intelca!mipos3!cadev4!jlitvin. Submitted by S19990@mitvma.bitnet/Daniel E. Loeb: To those of you who send in commands in cryptic and often even prosaic, nay poetic form here is a set submitted to a local game here at UCD sometime last Spring. This prompted the GM to offer a prize for the most interesting set sent in with bonuses for blank verse, sonnet form etc. He lived to regret it! Brendan. _________________________________________________________________________ Greetings | | Greetings I suppose you want to know what | my commands are? | | Well, now that you mention it... OK, but I'm thinking of sending | them in twice. | | Oh, gone schizo on us have you? (we?) What, us??? Would we do that? | | All right, just kidding. Anyway, what | are your moves for this Fall? I | suppose you're going to bop the | Ruskies again? I suppose they deserve The Russians? Er,... | everything you throw at them. Yeh, go | for it man. Blast them of the planet! Hang on, | Wipe out the Reds!! What did they | ever do for you?!?!? Teach them a HANG ON! | thing or ... pardon? you say | something?... Cool down mate. What good would that | do? Do you think we could survive for | very long if we provoked an attack? | It's bad enough trying to stay put | without going mad with guns blazing as | we fall over the cliff. No sir. It's | better just to hold on for a while and | let the Frogs get on with it. Haven't | Frogs? you seen what's going on up north among | the ice? We will just stay put, stay | Iced frogs up north???? solid, until the heat is off. Then we | can join the pasta lovers to ensure our | wine is east Mediterrainian. | Unheated ease-med pasta eating winos? | What the blazes are you talking | about? The French. Don't you see? We are safe | as long as the French and the Russians | ignore us, and keep whacking each other.| Oh. Why didn't you say that the first | time? I thought I did. | | Whatever. Alright. Now, here's what I plan to do. | | (At last.) I've got an army in Bohemia... | | That's not a move, that's a | statement. Shut up. I haven't finished... | The army in Bohemia is a sore thumb, | | It's an army. I SAID &@^#%&%^ SHUT UP! | | Hey! Hold your head mate or it'll | fall off. Just give me the moves so | everyone can know them. Er, sorry about that, got carried away. | Now where was I? | | Sore thumb. Oh yes, Bohemia. I think I'll pull it | back. It's not too safe where it is so | I'm moving it to Tyrolia. | | But wait a minute... I thought you | were leaving it there for the | Russians? Yes. So did the Russians. | | Hmmm... Of course, you realise that the Italians| are already in Tyrolia which presents a | problem. | | Problem? Why not just support | yourself in? Because they'll have to retreat. | | Retreat? Oh yes, now I see. They'll | go to Triest. Not a good idea that. No. I didn't think so, but wait, there's| more. I can stop the Italians getting in| by moving myself to Triest, blocking an | Italian retreat. Of course, I dont have | to actually move. I just bounce of | myself. | | You made of rubber or something? No. I just move Budapest and Serbia to | Triest. | | Ah, Bud-Tri and Ser-Tri. Hmmmm... | But what if the Russians pull a fast | one on you and take Budapest or | Serbia? They wouldn't. | | Why not? Because they wouldn't think I'd be daft | enough to let him. | | And that's why you're letting them? Yes. It's simple really. | | Madness. Now there's the problem of my fleet in | Albania. I put it there, if you | remember, to guard against both Italy | and Russia. But now I'm going to take a | risk. | | Oh %$#&^%, not another one of your | crazy ideas? No. Just a risky move. | | OK, what is it? F Alb-Ion | | !!!!!!!!!!!! What about Greece?!?!?! I'm not forgetting Greece. | | But the Russians will get it! No they won't. | | You seem a bit too confident. I'm an optimist. I suppose that the | Russians will assume that I will assume | that they are assuming that I'm moving | to Greece. So they won't bother, but | they'll instead use Bulgaria as a | support. That leaves Albania free to do | whatever it chooses. | | Risky. And I choose to put it into the Ionian. | | Why? Self defence. | | From who? The frogs and the Russians. | | Now you've really cracked. Perhaps. But there's still the matter of| the move to Tyrolia from Bohemia. I | don't want the French there. They can | cause havoc to us if they choose to | occupy that area. So we must make sure | that we control it. Therefore I'm going | to support the move from Bohemia to | Tyrolia. | | With what? Vienna. | | Oh yes. I forgot about Vienna. And that's it. That's our moves. | | Grand. However, I thought you said | you were going to submit them twice. | (Copying someone perhaps?) I did say that. And sure, the moves will| be submitted twice (at the same time) | but not by me. | | No? Then by whom? By you of course! | | Me?!? Yes. But be brief. The gamesmaster | doesn't want to be held up forever. | | Yes, indeed. OK, see if I get this | right.... | A Boh-Tyr | A Vie S AH A Boh-Tyr | A Bud-Tri | A Ser-Tri | F Alb-Ion Well done. Now I can sign off... | | Count Rotan VIII. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | I think he's gone. Better say | goodbye. | | Count Rotan VIII. I am enjoying moderating this zine, keep that mail coming! Eric Klien Up
