Re: Broad Axe Tavern From: t-phils@microsoft.UUCP (Phil Stracchino) Date: Sat, 19 Aug 1989 03:53:54 +0000 [2:53 pm] or thereabouts, I guess The door opens briefly and a figure steps through, closing it lightly behind him. Taking two short steps away from the door, he pauses and scans the room with a swift glance, before continuing towards the bar. He is of average height and build, but walks very softly, with almost catlike economy of movement. He wears a long charcoal-gray cloak with a lining of royal-blue satin, over a long jerkin of studded black leather (cut high at his hips), with a thick collar of rich, dark-brown fur. The jerkin, in turn, is over a loose-sleeved shirt of deep red silk. His charcoal-black hose is barely visible between the bottom of the jerkin and the tops of tall, soft boots of well-oiled dark brown leather, which come well above his knees. An unusually slender, basket-hilted longsword hangs from his broad leather belt, at his left hip; it is partly balanced on the right by a long, curved dagger, its hilt carved to resemble a panther. A silver clasp, also in the shape of a panther, secures his cloak. His features are well-defined, with cool gray eyes below heavy brows. His wavy, jet-black hair brushes his shoulders. He wears a neatly trimmed beard; his face carries the barest hint of a sardonic smile. His bearing is casual, relaxed, but confident. To those who notice such things, he has the look of a man who is very aware of his surroundings. On his left shoulder rides a small, winged creature with a decidedly draconian look to it. It looks around the room with beady, glittering eyes. It does not look hostile (but to those who know the ways of such kinds, it looks definitely intelligent). At the bar, he asks the barkeeper if he stocks peach brandy, or any brandy at all. If the bar carries any, he will buy a glass; if not, he will settle for a glass of the best wine available. He also asks what there is to be had by way of food. Having obtained food and drink, he looks around for a vacant booth neither too close to nor too far from the door. He goes to the booth and sits down to eat, sharing scraps of meat with the reptile on his shoulder. -- Knight of the Ancient and Honorable | Phil Stracchino Order of the Rampant Turtle | uunet!microsoft!t-phils Black Knights fought, Holy Grails sought | INTERNET: t-phils@microsoft.UUCP (Damsels in distress rescued free) | DISCLAIMER: Disclaim who?
