Diplomacy game opening! From: Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com Date: Sun, 30 Jul 1989 20:47:27 +0000 I have organized game #17 of Diplomacy! The GM is kreme@netcom.uucp/Kreme This is a gunboat game, players will not be listed. I am now ready to organize game #18. Hey I'm done! Game #18 has been organized! GM is Ebrosius@lucy.wellesley.edu/Eric Brosius Players are: uunet!macvax!ukc!inset!danielh or danielh@inset.co.uk/Daniel Hannigan rs51@andrew.cmu.edu/Ron Snyder ledo@clunker.uucp or oliveb!bunker!clunker!ledo/Bill Ledoux Sr. sun!hplabs!utah-cs!caeco!i-core!psylocke or psylock@i-core.uucp /Matthew S. Jordan uunet!watmath!enel.ucalgary.ca!fare or fare@enel.ucalgary.ca /Michael David Farebrother shook@boulder.colorado.edu/David Shook krywolt@vp.uolf.cdn or krywolt@vp.uleth.adhocnet.ca/Russ Krywolt I am now ready to organize game #19. People who I have been unable to contact: roberson@june.cs.washington.edu/Bruce Roberson who would like to play 1914. prothan@pine.circa.ufl.edu/Jeff Mason who would like to play regular Dip. kstevens@qarry.enet.dec.com/Ken Stevens who wants to be a guest publisher. People on my waiting list for a regular Diplomacy game: elliott@clunker.uucp/Elliott Kleinrock mrt@cbnewsh.att.com/Mark Tyler I am having e-mail problems with game #15, GMed by daybell@aludra.usc.edu/Donald Daybell. If you are able to establish communication with uunet!watmath!cpsc.ucalgary.ca!greg/Greg James, uunet!watmath!alberta!dutchyn/Christopher Dutchyn and the GM let me know and you may be able to start in this game instead of waiting for my next game opening. (Game has not yet reached Spring '01 yet due to e-mail problems.) Remember to give me your home phone number, work phone number, home address, and country preferences when you sign up for my waiting list! I also have openings for a 1914 variant of Diplomacy based on an article in The General. (The General is published by the manufacturer of Diplomacy to give you an idea of how good this variant must be!) This game is much more realistic than regular Diplomacy, you even can get bombers starting in Winter 1917. My waiting list is Tedrick@ernie.berkeley.edu/Tom Tedrick and possibly roberson@june.cs.washington.edu, I need three or four more people. I am now opening another Gunboat game where you don't know who your opponents are, you only communicate through press. I have three people on my waiting list. There is one opening left for my next regular postal Diplomacy game. I have decided to give in and start a standby list to take over positions that people have dropped because they are either bums or their e-mail connections have died. Although we haven't had a big problem with this, I feel that the zine has gotten so big I should automate everything that I can. So if you would like to be a standby for an abandoned position let me know. It is great opportunity to practice end-game diplomacy, and can be a great test of your skills if you are given a particularly bad position. Actually, I could also use a standby list for GMs, mostly for GMs who are going on short vacations but occassionally for GMs that are no longer able to GM for some reason. So sign up for both lists! My e-mail address is eric_s_klien@cup.portal.com. Up
