Marseilles is the only open option. If France wishes to disband Burgundy, he can do so in the summer adjustments. +++++++++++++ The Reich Rag +++++++++++++ Commander Bart Icksee of the 2nd armored division stationed in Denmark today confirmed the existence of the secret society known as GAASP (Germans Against Army St. Petersburg) within certain elements of the armed forces. "We have come together for the purpose of defending our homeland against what seems to be an inevitable Russian onslaught from the North and East. Our ally against France, the benevolent English ruler, is also threatened by the Russian Army St. Pete, so we decided to do something about it." The result of Commander Icksee's actions on the Eastern front drew praise and criticism from the ministers of warfare, but Emperor Denholm Mark seemed supportive of the move, "Though Commander Icksee did not directly violate his standing orders to protect our Eastern front from treachery, his initiative in this case may prove to be our undoing in this war. Nevertheless, we must stand united behind our actions and hope that the English leader has begun to see the Russian action in the same light as we have." When asked about the Demilitarized Scandanavia Treaty, Mark remarked, "So much for that, eh? If Russia has honored the treaty, we'll look like the villains, but I don't think that there is anything that the St. Petersburg army can do that ISN'T offensive toward our country or the English. We should stop worrying about how we look and start worrying about how to survive the upcoming two-front war." A question on the situation against France drew further comment from Mark, who said, "Unfortunately, it seems that our Southern neighbors have elected to fight on a different front than we had hoped. It is not too late for the Italians to share in the fruits of victory, though, if he decides to leave Austria alone to contain the Russian while dividing France up among the three victors." THE DAILY COSSACK ----------------- Emperor Nikolai speaks: It seems that proposals for peace in Scandanavia and the Black Sea have been well accepted. I hope that further cooperation between Russia and Germany and Turkey and England will show such splendid results. We also would hope that the German army in Berlin not move Eastwards, and that such movement would constitute an act of WAR! We also welcome an English fleet into the Norwegian Sea in order to protect British interests in Norway. We understand that the army in St. P. might seem threatening, but I assure you that it isn't. Please remember, it could have been a fleet. May peace reign on Europe! Do Widzenia! Paris ------ France wants to continue its friendly relations with Italy, Austria- Hungary, Turkey and Russia. We would like to see the Russians moving into Scandinavia to protect her from English imperialism and we would be happy should Italy consider liberating southern Germany. Italy -> Turkey: I am willing to coordinate an attack on Greece. Can I support you? Italy -> Russia: Any help from Vienna is welcome. Italy -> Germany: As you can see, A Tyr is not a threat. Italy -> France: Let's keep the following areas empty: Mar, Pie, GOL, WMed, NAf. OK? -------- The British Foreign Office again sends greetings to their good friends in Russia. The British government is still very interested in a demilitarized Scandanavia. We suggest that Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and StPete be vacated. ============================================================================= COLD WAR RESULTS -- SPRING 1903 -------------------------------- AUS: F Gre-ION GER: F BAL-GoB A TRI-Ven A Pru-LVN A SER S Turk A Bul-GRE F DEN-Nth A GAL S A Rum-UKR (cut) A HOL holds A Bud-RUM A KIE-Den A Rum-UKR ITA: A PIE-Ven ENG: A SWE holds F AEG S Austrian A Ser-Bul (NSO) F Nth S F LON-Ech (cut) F GoL-TYS F LON-Ech A NAf-TUN F Lvp-IRI F NAT S F Lvp-IRI RUS: F GOB-Bal A WAR-Gal FRA: A MAR holds A Ukr-MOS A SPA S A MAR hold A Pic-BUR TUR: A SEV S Austrian A Rum-UKR A BEL holds A SMY holds F Bre-ECH A Bul-GRE F MID S F Bre-ECH F Con-BUL (sc) F Bla-CON Final Unit Positions: AUS: A UKR, A GAL, A RUM, A TRI, A SER, F ION ENG: A SWE, F NTH, F NAT, F IRI, F LON FRA: F ECH, F MID, A SPA, A MAR, A BUR, A BEL GER: A LVN, A KIE, A HOL, F DEN, F BAL ITA: A PIE, A TUN, F TYS, F AEG RUS: A MOS, A WAR, F GOB TUR: A GRE, A SMY, A SEV, F CON, F BUL (sc) Press: (Vienna) Due to strong evidence from diplomatic sources in Turkey and France, Italy has been deemed guilty of plotting to attack the Austrian forces in the Balkans. In a pre-emptive move the Austrian forces have taken steps to secure the border and to contain the Italian fleet. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chicago Tribune: (February 11, 1903) The President has recalled the US Ambassador to Turkey and has broken off formal relations with Turkey today as a result of the remark made by Sultan Sulamein III yesterday. "First we're barbarians, then we're murderers. I don't really want to say what *they* are," said Roosevelt in a press conference this morning. The Senate is considering declaring war on Turkey. This is seen as a factor which can only complicate the situation in Europe. But, to this reporter, just breathing complicates the situation in Europe, so no harm here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Versailles: At high-level meetings in the halls of this historical monument, the French High Command has outlined a plan for the defense of the realm. The newly constructed Mediterranean fleet will move against the Italian forces threatening Frence commerce. The policy is to return fire if attacked or if commercial shipping is attacked or boarded. No response from Italy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Munich Chronicle April 19, 1903 Munich:- In a speech given here today General von Bluchker declared that the nation once known as Russia will cease to exist in a short while. He continues to encourage the offensives taken by Turkey and Austria. Germany will help in any way possible. He hopes that other nations in Europe have learned the consequences for violating another country. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The New York Times: (February 10, 1903) The Turkish ambassador to the United States was deported this morning. He had been charged with 32 counts of felonious indecent exposure, 12 counts of prostitution, and 3 counts of soliciting sexual favors. It seems that Muhammed Ali, ex-ambassador, was walking down 42nd Street in his Turkish attire which included a long flowing garment, when he tripped and flashed policeman in the Manhattan Vice Squad. These policemen were preparing to raid a nightclub in the area when the hapless, and underclothed, Ali fell into their stakeout position. Apparently, Ali's remarks to the officers, spoken in imperfect and obviously misunderstood idioms, resulted in the prostitution and solicitation charges. The judge presiding over the case dismissed the charges based on Ali's diplomatic immunity, but the State Department required Ali's dismissal from the ambassadorship as a condition for continued relations with Turkey. "It was all a big mishamburger," Ali said. "I only wanted to get undressed for them." This reporter was not able to comprehend Ali's remarks. I think he meant that he did not want to expose himself, but one can never tell. Sultan Sulamein III expressed regrets that his chosen ambassador had been deported but said, "At least they didn't kill him." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Rome Times April 1, 1903 Rome: The Foreign Affairs Office is denying any alliance with the Saracens of Turkey to curb the growth of the Austrian empire. It was acknowledged that Austria is a growing empire and the growth must be stopped. The Office did declare war on Russia. It is hoped that Italy can gain immeasurably from a war with Russia. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Constantinople Courier: (March 23, 1903) Grand Vizier Joel Haywood said in a press conference this morning, "The Sultan has decided to wage war with the United States of Barbarians, I mean, America. That will make them think twice about not calling us anything." The Minister for Internal Security added, "We now blame the Americans for the murder of our late Sultan, we will do to them what we have done to the Russians." ============================================================================== That's it folks! Nothing else of interest to report. No results yet from DOUGHBOY, BISMARCK, or TRENCHFOOT (my game. :-). Cheers! Lord Valentine Up
