"Societeit de Walrus" Pelsterstraat 25 Groningen Finals held at: DUCOSIM EUROCON III Sat-Sun, 18,19 November 1989. "de Vereniging" Mariaplaats 14 Utrecht. Every year, the Dutch Diplomacy games society (an unincorporated body), affiliated with the Dutch Conflict Simulation Association (DUCOSIM), organises the Dutch National Championship. A few years ago, it was decided that the championship should be an Open tournament, so anybody from anywhere may participate. The championship itself consists of two preliminaries, and one final. The best three players of each preliminary join with the champion of last year in the final round. Beware! The preliminaries and the finals are held on separate weekends in separate places, so be sure you are able to attend on both weekends, unless you intend not to win the preliminaries :-). For more information on the Eurocon, which is a gaming event of general interest, I refer to a separate message, which will appear in rec.games.{board,frp,pbm} and eunet.general, with a eunet distribution. If you're not on eunet, mail me. More info on the preliminaries: On Saturday the 7th, gaming hours are from 11:00 until 18:00. On Sunday the 8th, from 10:00 til 17:00h. Tournament rules will follow the Calhamer system. Each player plays a different country on Saturday and Sunday. Each day consists of the years 1900-1907. Calhamer scores from both days will be totaled to establish the three finalists.
