The following (Spring 06) deadline is Wed Sept 13 (as previously announced.) Hopefully as we get into the fall (real time) the schedule will even out. Maybe there will even be time to write some press (hint, hint, :-)). Happy Labor Day, all. Spring 1903 of game BLITZKRIEG (BNC 1989HL) (GM is dougi@astro.as.utexas.edu/ Doug Ingram) Blitzkrieg - Spring 1904 "The great powers of our time are like travellers, unknown to one another, whom chance has brought together in a carraige. Namely, the Russian support from Moscow of the Austrian A GAL-WAR was NOT cut, and the French unit in Burgundy can retreat to Belgium if so desired. The uncut Russian support has no effect on the results, but I'll need the French player's decision on the retreat before I can post results for Summer of 1904. **************** Press: St John Broderick, Secretary for War, to A J Balfour, Prime Minister, in 1903: "I do not find that any definite instruction exists as to what is the exact purpose for which the army exists, and what duties is is supposed to perform." Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman, later Prime Minister, saying that he did not feel that the formation of an army corps was suited to any purpose likely to be required of Britain: "What is an army corps in this country? Sir, the expression is like the great word Mesopotamia--it is a blessed word. It deludes the earnest and it imposes on the simple." Bismarck, on the significance of the British army in continental military calculations: "If the British army ever lands on the Prussian coast, I will send a policeman to arrest it!" Real glory consists of sparing it." -- Louis XV France: A BUR retreats to BEL Russia: A MOS retreats to SEV *************** Supply Centers: Total/(Units Owned)/Status Austria: BUD, VIE, TRI, GRE, SER 5 (5) England: LON, LVP, EDI, NWY, BEL, STP 6 (6) France: PAR, SPA, POR 3 (3) Germany: KIE, BER, MUN, HOL, DEN, SWE, MAR, WAR 8 (8) Italy: VEN, ROM, NAP, TUN, BRE 5 (5) Russia: MOS, SEV, BUL 3 (3) Turkey: ANK, CON, SMY, RUM 4 (4) *************** Unit Positions -- Summer 1904: Austria: F GRE, A SER, A BUD, A VIE, A WAR England: F NWY, A STP, F ECH, F SWE, F BRE, F POR France: A PIC, A PAR, A BEL Germany: A PRU, F BAL, A MAR, A RUH, A MOS, A BUR, A HOL, A LIV Italy: A PIE, A VEN, F TUN, F NAP, F MAO Russia: A UKR, A RUM, A SEV Turkey: A CON, F AEG, F ION, A GAL ************** GM Notes: The Fall 1904 deadline is Sunday, Sept. 10, at noon CDT. My thanks to Peter Woodruf (Turkey) who pointed out that the Moscow support for Austria's GAL-WAR in the spring was indeed cut according to the rule which states that dislodged units cannot offer support. Fortunately, this doesn't change the results. Also, I goofed on England's F BAR-NWY order, so England's unit position for the Summer has been corrected to reflect this. I had simply forgotten to update it after some confusion over the use of the NOR abbreviation. I know this is legal for Norway, but I prefer the unambiguous NWY for Norway and NWG or NWS for Norweigan Sea. OPERATION OVERLORD: Fall 1904(BNC 1989HM) (GMed by Davisje@crd.ge.com/Jon Davis) All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved. - Sun Tzu [A slight correction.] MUNICH OVERRUN BY FRENCH HORDES! The surrender is unconditional, and control of the remaining Fifth Army based in Munich at this time is given over to the British until the end of hostilities in Europe. "I ask only," the Kaiser said, "that the deposed German government be allowed to participate in the treaty talks. We would like to see the Reichland reinstated to its former borders, including the acquisition of Denmark. The German army will dedicate itself to destroying the enemies of the Reichland and the English.
