GM Notes: tatatatataat.... WE INTERRUPT THIS ZINE FOR AN IMPORTANT BULLETIN.... In the early hours of the morning the German and English fleets clashed in a massive battle in the North Sea. During the battle, a major storm came up sinking some of the ships on both sides. Unfortunately, the Admiral's ship of the German navy was sunk during the storm. We have not found out whether or not the Admiral was actually on the ship. The demoralized navy retreated back to the ports and conceded the North Sea to the British. Also, in a surprise move, the French army crossed the border into the Ruhr region of Germany. The people were woken up by soldiers knowcking on doors and asking to see the governor of the region. The Kaiser has demanded an explanation of this extreme breach of faith on the part of the French and has demanded an immediate withdrawl of all French forces from the German territory. On the other side of the globe, the Turks have attacked two of the major cities in Russia. Yelling various obsenities, and threats, they charged the walls of Moscow and Warsaw. The garrison stationed in Moscow fought bravely and was almost defeated, but suddenly another Russian army appeared from nowhere. The Turks, confused, retreated and took up a defensive position. The city of Warsaw was saved by the quick movement of the Russian 1st army. They marched for days in order to get back to defend the city and barely made it before the attack occured. The Turks, not expecting any defense were thrown into chaos and retreated in order to reorganise. In other news, for the second straight season, the Italian forces have suffered a defeat. This time, the battle took place in the Ionian Sea. At the first sign of light, two Turkish fleets attacked the lone Italian fleet patrolling the sea. In the battle that followed, several vessels were lost by the Italians, but not before they were able to do sever damage to the Turkish forces. An unofficial report of the area has it that almost 50% of the Turkish forces were lost. Unfortunately, the loss of the Ionian Sea has left the Italian mainland very vurnerable. The city of Venice has once again come under attack.... We now return you to your regularly scheduled zine..... <blink!> Press: TURKISH AMBASSADOR IN CRITICAL CONDITION ---------------------------------------- Ambassador Achmed, son of Sultan Suliman III, was found in a coma this morning after an apparent hashish overdose. Achmed, who was to leave on a tour of the old Ottoman holdings in Tunis this morning, was seen in good health at his farewell party last night. Foul play is suspected, as the ambassador was well practiced in various forms of debauchery. Many suspect an Austrian spy has penetrated the embassy, and reports indicate that all members of the embassy staff who are not members of the Italian secret police are to be routinely shot. Italian naval forces stationed in the Ionian Sea were sent to Greece to report the incident to arriving Turkish forces. Vienna(AP) - The Austrian Emperor denied implications in a plot to poison the Turkish Ambassador to Italy. The Abassador was poisoned last night night after attending a party at which he was the guest of honor. "Austria does not condone, and will not involve herself in acts of state terrorism and murder, particularly when it involves mind influencing drugs such as hashish", proclaimed as he ascended the steps of the royal box at the Vienna Opera for this morning's performance of "Die Entfuhrung aus dem Seraglio". The Emperor continue, "I myself have met this son of the Sultan of Turkey; the boy should have been disciplined years ago, if you ask me. If a prince cannot hold his hashish, perhaps he should not carry a pipe. He is a disgrace to royal families everywhere." In other news, the Emperor also said that the newly constructed 1st Austrian Naval Divison, comprised of units that were rescued from last spring's naval disaster in the Adriatic, has been formed in Budapest. They are currently training for future engagements, but are said to be having a hard time finding their footing on the solid ground of the Hungarian interior. WE INTERRUPT THIS ZINE FOR AN IMPORTANT BULLETIN.... After being thrown off the main European continent, the rebuilt British 1st Division, once again tried to come on land. And once again they succeeded, this time in Denmark. In the early morning hours (the British seem to be doing a lot of that lately, don't they ever sleep?), the 1st Division quietly landed in Denmark and proceeded to do a quick seep of the area only to be surprised by the total absense of German forces. The British commander was puzzled and could not explain what happened. Upon awakening, the Danes were surprised at the change of command of the area. The mayor of Copenhagen was very upset at seeing the Jack flying over his office and has called on all of the Danes to rise and throw back the unwelcome guests. At a press conferense he said, 'Look, the Germans are bad enough, but the British???! Next thing you know, they will have us all drinking tea! Hey, if the Americans can do it, we can do it too!' Turning to the East, the Turkish reorganized Turkish forces once again have made an assault on the two major Russian cities. Yelling and waving swords they charged the walls of Moscow and Warsaw only to be beaten back once again. The pin-point artillery from the defenders of Moscow caused major damage to the Turkish forces attacking it and the Turks once again fell back to regroup and receive reinforcements. The Warsaw garrison once again held with support from the partizans roaming the countryside, but we have learned that the situation there is getting worse. The Turkish occupation of Ukraine has caused massive food shortages all over Russia and people are getting restless and a few minor riots have been reported, but the Czar has promised that more food will be arriving shortly. When pressed on the issue, he refused to say from where and when pressed further ordered the execution of the interviewer. In other news, the Austrians have started a major offensive aimed at throwing the invader back across the borders. In two major battles near the Northern borders the newly rebuild 1st Naval Division has achieved it's first victory on land. Before the Russian forces had time to recuperate from the Turkish attack, the Austrians threw the fresh forces plus reinforcements against them creating chaos and disorder. The Russian 1st army was completely destroyed and their commander captured. He was taken to the POW camp in Vienna where he will be interrogated to find out future plans of the Czar. Also, the Italian navy has retook the Ionian Sea, but this time without a battle. Upon passing the site of the previous battle, they could see the remains of several ships and gave a 21 gun salute. The victory didn't come free though. In a message received by the admiral of the fleet, he was informed that the city of Naples has been invaded and his help is urgently needed. We how return you to your regularly scheduled zine...... <blink!> Press: The Daily Anatolian ------------------- (Istanbul) Prince Achmed Assasinated! It seems that a foreign plot has brought down the holy Prince. While on duty at the Turkish Consulate in Rome, the young Prince was injected with a lethal dose of Hashish. Apparently the young prince did not die from the Hashish (to which he has a rather high tolerance.) The Prince, instead went into a Coma, and was last seen alive, being taken to the Rome General Hospital. The Prince was killed in the Intensive Care Unit where he was quartered. Expert sources have it that as strange substance was injected into his IV tube. A small sample of this substance was smuggled out of Italy to a lab in Ankara, where upon analysis, it proved to be tomato paste! Government sources suspect either the Italians or the Austrians impersonating the Italians, or the Russians impersonating the Austrians impersonating the Italians. The last seems to be the popular theory, as an empty vodka bottle was found at the scene of the crime. ============================================================================== Doughboy Fall 1903 DISB = Disbanded DISL = Dislodged NSO = Not so ordered ---Austria-----------------------------|---Germany----------------------------- A Boh S A Tri-Tyl |A Kie - Hol A Tri - Tyl |F Hel S A Kie-Hol A Bud - Tri FAIL |A Ber - Sil DISL A Bul - Con FAIL |F Bal S RUS F Swe-Den NSO F Aeg S A Bul-Con |---Italy------------------------------- A Gal S RUS A Sil H |A Syr - Smy ---England-----------------------------|F Eas S A Syr-Smy F Den H |F Ion - Gre F Nwg - Nwy |A Ven - Tri FAIL F Nwy - Ska |---Russia------------------------------ F Nth S F Den H |F Swe S ENG F Den H A Hol H DISB |F GoB - Bal FAIL ---France------------------------------|A Pru - Ber A Bel S A Ruh H |A Sil S A Pru-Ber A Ruh S A Mun H |A Rum - Ser A Mun S Eng A Hol-Kie NSO |A Ank - Con FAIL A Pie - Ven FAIL |F Bla S A Ank-Con F Mid - Wes |---Turkey------------------------------ F GoL - Tyn |F Con - Smy FAIL ---------------------------------------|A Smy - Arm TUR F Con is beleaguered. |--------------------------------------- ENG A Hol was forced to disband. Press -ROME- A spokesman for the Imperial palace announced that General Marco Spumoni has been stripped of his command and given a dishonerable discharge after he failed to arrive in Damascus with the Italian second army last week. Spumoni has been replaced by recently promoted General Alfredo Manicotti who, reportedly, knows where Syria is. After his promotion, the new commander of the second army was quoted as saying, "Manicotti, one 'n', one 'c', two 't's, got it?" It seems that ex-General Spumoni took his army to Egypt rather than Damascus. Spumoni's only comment was "Syria? I thought he said Suez! Didn't Marco Polo go to Suez too?" Spumoni has retired to Naples where he will open a gourmet pasta shop. -------------------------------- THE COSSACK'S GAZETTE -MOSCOW- Reports from the front in Silesia indicate that the troops there are anxious to join the partying in Berlin. Says General Ivan, "We only hope there is enough beer!" Meanwhile, here in the capital, the Czar is hopefully awaiting replies to anxious requests for support from the English. "We realize that they have needs of their own. But one thinks that they should sympathize with our troops' thirst for beer." The conquest of the Turks is welcomed by all in the Czar's domain. "Those nasty brutes!" said one Muscovite housewife. Their extermination is expected soon. As usual, relations with the Italians and Austrians are well. "Every soldier in Ankara is doing their utmost to help the Italian conquest of the southern Turks!" says General Sasha. The commmanders in Rumania and the Black Sea are enjoying their holiday in their newly conquered lands. -------------------------------- -Troy- The Turkish ruler today revealed the workings of a most monumental plot involving several major European nations. "We have been working dilligently for several months to uncover the cause of our diplomatic disasters," he revealed to this paper. "Those infidel English swine are the root of our troubles. Look at our enemies! Austria isn't attacking them. Italy isn't attacking them. Russia put us off until our agents revealed this letter in St. Petersburg: EXERPT FROM CODED DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE: So, old boy, we agree. Turkey goes down. once this is confirmed with the others, we will make sure that they don't stand a chance. Yes, I know you feel they aren't so bad, but trust us, they will rape, torture and kill everyone they can lay their hands on. Do them now. -E. "I have this to say to that King. We will get you. We will get you if we have to fight our way through every nation in Europe, but we will get you. You can crush our country but you cannot crush every loyal Allah- loving Turk alive. Remember, we know where you live. Soon a bomb will go off in your lap, a bullet will pierce your skull, a knife will plunge into your back. Cower in fear England, for your King will soon be dead." -ROME- General Alfredo Manicotti, current leader of the Italian second army, is in the middle of his planned tour to recreate the voyages of Marco Polo. After visiting Damascus, he is currently in the next phase of his trip, a visit to relatives of ex-General Marco Spumoni in southern Turkey. In other news, the Imperial capital is moving! That's right, construction is nearing completion on a new imperial palace just down the street from the old one. The transition is expected to occur in about one year. A spokesman for the Emperor said at a press conference that this change "should not significantly affect diplomatic relations with any nation." Some critics of the move feel that there is no need for such a large building as the number of dignitaries that could be entertained at once is constrained by the dwindling number of nations in Europe. Emperor Ravioli responded to these claims by saying, "Nothing but the best for our fine friends who have flourished in the wake of the turmoil which has engulfed the European continent." ============================================================================== Doughboy Winter 1903 Retreats Germany A Ber->Kie Adjustments Austria - F Aeg A Boh England + A Lon France + F Mar Germany - A Kie A Hol Italy + A Rom F Nap Russia + A Sev A War Turkey - A Arm Positions after adjustments Austria 4 A Tyl Bud Gal Bul England 5 A Lon F Nth Nwy Ska Den France 7 A Bel Ruh Mun Pie F Mar Wes Tyn Germany 2 F Hel Bal Italy 6 A Ven Rom Smy F Nap Gre Eas Russia 9 A Ber Sil War Sev Ser Ank F Swe GoB Bla Turkey 1 F Con Press And now, a special message from the Emperor of Italy: "This last season, a great crime has been committed by the nation of France. This deed is not merely an offense against the Italian people, but a crime against all of Europe. The French government has shown its complete lack of honor and decency by it's actions. France had signed, along with England and Italy, a tripartisite defense treaty, pledging to come to the aid of any signing member attacked by another signing member. Obviously, the French merely intended to use this, the most sacred of diplomatic channels, as a ruse to lure the nation of Italy into a trap. "I address the public not as an appeal to aid against the barbarous French invasion, but as a warning to all nations of Europe that their people would be best served by treating the French nation with the contempt and hostility that they so richly deserve. I also call on the Flag Admiral of England to uphold his end of the bargain by declaring war on France lest our English friends also fall victim to the same sort of moral degeneracy that has enveloped the western extremes of continental Europe." This has been the Emperor of Italy.
