We both have much to gain. ---------- The Austria-Hungarian Gazette: UPI VIENNA, AH. The Emperor-King Francis "Franky" Joeseph responded today to recent diplomatic overtures involving the major powers. At a betrothal ceremony for Archduke Ferdinand, the Emperor made known his policies to the recent developments in Europe. He wished the Kaiser and his people, as fellow Germans, success in their conquest over the "French Scum-Suckers" and looked forward to a celeberation under the Arc de Triomphe. He was quoted as saying, "While we agree that Tyrolia should be neutral, the Austrians would view a German army in Tyrolia as defensive or as further expansion towards France. Should the need arise, an Austrian unit in Tyrolia would be purely defensive in nature." He also made known that an Italian unit in Tyrolia would be counter productive to the move against France. He further stated that "It is hoped that our Italian neighbors would remain non-agressive toward Austria-Hungary and allocate its resources to take advantage of opportunities in the south of France and the Iberian Peninsula." The Emperor is hopeful that he can believe that the Italian "pledge not to attack any major power" this year may be used as a basis for continued trust. The Emperor also expressed concern about the Czar's recent actions and hinted at possible support for Russian movement in exchange for Russian respect of the Austria-Hungarian homeland. During Emperor's final statement he was quoted as saying "We are befuddled by the recent Turkish moves and will continue to wait and see what course the Ottomans intend to pursue." The Emperor expressed regret at the recent Italian move into Tyrolia. He again repeated his desire that the Italians remain non agressive towards Austria-Hungary and take advantage of the opportunities in France. "Had we desires on Italy we could have taken Venice" the Emperor was quoted as saying. The Emperor was also confused by recent Russian peace offerings towards Turkey. "The Turkish moves have been non-productive. It is hard to see how they can hope to help anyone else when they themselves can't even move." The Emperor further went on to say that we view the Russian peace offering to Turkey as a case of too much vodka and problems in diplomatic mail delay. To forward some progress in the region the Emperor has sent directives to Austrian units in Serbia and Greece to support a Russian Fleet move from Rummania to Bulgaria. The Emperor was quoted as saying "If the Russians want an ally in the region they may as well have a strong one." The Emperor also hopes that this move will help resolve the regrettable but predictable move into Vienna by the Russians. ---------- TURKEY REPORTS We will respect Armenia and the Black Sea as demilitarized zones. As far as the French offensive goes, the war council has decided to request that England's army in Belgium support a German move from the Ruhr into Burgundy this turn if so desired. Naturally, other courses of action by this army aimed at weakening France are feasible and would be looked upon with equal favor." When asked about the recent success of the Russian campaigns, the Kaiser remarked, "We are very happy for our Eastern neighbors and hope that our build in Berlin rather than Kiel is seen not as an offensive move or even a defensive posture; rather, it should be seen as a way of guaranteeing that the army in Denmark have clear passage southward so that the evacuation of Scandanavia will have no hitches. We are open to suggestions regarding future actions and hope that peaceful relations can be maintained." The Kaiser closed his brief meeting with reporters on a promising note: "Regarding our Southern neighbors, the Italians, we see the move into Tyrolia as a necessary means to accomplish the end of the Austrian regime and can only hope that this is its intended purpose.
