-ROME- Guido Linguini, founder, president and only member of the Society for
the Prevention of Cruelty to Amphibians called for public resistance to the
Emperor's edict calling for the elimination of all frogs in the nation of
Italy.  The SPCA, recently relocated from the captured city of Venice, warns
that such a policy could have an irreparable impact on the environment.  A
spokesman for the imperial palace issued a statement saying, "It's not like
there aren't frogs in other parts of the world or anything, so who really
cares?"  The palace appears willing to concede and allow environmentalist
groups to capture and hold amphibians in boxes, but the issue of air holes
is still being debated.

The new Imperial palace is now open for business.  It appears, though, that
only three nations have sent envoys to visit.  A government watchdog group,
The Sons of Spaghetti, have expressed their concern at the wastefullness
stemming from the small number of people in the palace.  Official
representatives explained that there was no cause for alarm as the extra
food was being given to General Spumoni and his men, although sources in the
Third Italian Army deny every seeing any of the food that was allegedly
donated to them.

The Second Italian Army has adopted a new name and motto.  They will now be
known as the "Asskickers of the French and Austrians."  Their motto is: "We
haul ours to kick theirs."

-NAPLES- Emperor Ravioli had no comment today as he and his staff was rushed to
his Winter Palace, or "Home away from Rome", outside of Naples today, although
sources close to the Emperor say that he is irate over having to leave his
recently constructed Imperial palace.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs did issue a statement saying that diplomatic
affairs would be handled from Naples and that foreign dignitaries would lodge
in the resort village of Vermicelli.  Representatives from Russia, England and
Austria all indicated that this would be satisfactory, but the French
embassador said that he would reserve his own accomodations.

Rumors mount that the Italian second army, supposedly under the command of
General Alfredo Manicotti, has disbanded and is living off the land in Asia
Minor.  The Department of Military Preparedness issued a statement saying,
"That's ridiculous, Italians roaming around Turkey, what would they eat?"

Reprinted from Le Journal Parisian: The Grand Poohbah himself would
like to admonish the nations of Russia and Austria for what he sees as
needless bloodshed of countless lives of innocents.  The rich mineral
reserves of Ukraine should not be worth more than human life.  All can
be worked out with words rather than horses and guns, peace can still
be achieved.  He would also like to commend Italy, Germany, Turkey and
England for their peaceful benevolent expansion bringing new cultures
and law to previously lawless areas.
