From: gabai@paul.rutgers.edu (Steven Gabai) Date: Sun, 17 Sep 1989 05:06:39 +0000 Somewhere along the way, I lost the notice that I had sent to the initial set of players (either by email or in rec.games.pbm) that asked for them to: 1) follow up on previous 'Broad Axe Tavern' or 'Re: Broad Axe Tavern' postings (using the 'f' command, and/or reply to the author w/ 'r') so that efficient news reading programs like 'vnews' could unsubscribe to the discussion (by typing 'ud'), and not even have to type individual 'n' repeatedly. 2) post using the Subject: Broad Axe Tavern ------------------ note: some people have things called kill files that either kill by subject-string, subject-substring, or author I don't know how to do this yet, because I've never considered it necessary, since I use the 'a', 'n', '^D', '^B', and 'ud' commands (type '?' for explanations) and can wade through even the most noisy of news groups without working up a sweat or ulcer. also I use this in my .newsrc file: options -A rec.games.pbm: ------------------ have fun Steven gabai@paul.rutgers.edu Up
