PRESS: ------ The Austrian Emporer today denied that Elvis was sighted in Vienna. "Those lying Russians!!! Elvis isn't even alive yet!!! Go to America and stare at Mrs. Presleys womb for a while...." He also encouraged the alliance with Germany, stating, "We have gotten the Italians off their back. Let's see what they can do for us." ------ PRAVDA (Moskva) The glorious revolutionary struggle to free the people of the Balkans from Austrian domination is progressing superbly with the cooperation of the enlightened, though not Communist, goverments of Italy and Turkey. Although Italian forces are suffering a minor setback, the soldiers of the Red Army are confident of their ability to assist. At this very moment artillery regiments stationed in Rumania are preparing to support the Turkish advance from Greece to Serbia. The Red Banner Baltic Fleet will be conducting its usual joint exercises with the Turkish Navy. ------ BREST (UPI): French officials announced today the completion of an experimental new weapon: the land battleship. Mounted on multiple tracks, this mighty weapon is designed for transporting naval power over land. Sources maintain that this "super-tank" is not seaworthy. ------ The Sultan has been busy this week attending the christening of the flagships of Turkeys two latest battlegroups. The "Dragon" was christened last Tuesday in Constantinople and the "Hydra" yesterday in Smyrna. The two battle groups are expected to go out on a joint shakedown cruise shortly. Both battleships are a slight modification of the "Collossus" class, named after the flagship of the Black Sea fleet. Sultan questions Pope's request to vacate Greece and go to Serbia instead. "...For one thing they don't grow olives in Serbia and even if we went there how would we hold it surrounded by Hungarians?" ------ London (Reuters) - The Secretary of the Exchequer held a press conference today concerning the rumours that a loan had been given to Germany. He said, "Of course we gave them a loan; our shipyards were really unprepared for wartime building, and we had a rather large surplus from this year's war bond sales. His Highness the Prime Minister hopes that this final act of good- will will convince the Germans that we really do want to ally with him, particularly against France. A British Expeditionary Force that was delayed earlier this year is now in peak fighting condition to attack the French, and will be a major asset if allowed on the Continent. That will teach the French to sabotage anything British in the future!" ------ German negotiators unveiled today a proposal to permit British peacekeeping forces to land in Belgium to ensure Belgium's neutrality in the current Franco-German war, in return for British support in the Burgundy matter. The Germans also were heard to suggest that the Royal Navy begin patrols in the English Channel, due to recent reports of French sabotage of the underwater telegraph lines. ------ The Russians are getting awful powerful! Will no one try to stop the ravening Communist hordes? -- Christopher Davis, BU SMG '90 <ckd@bu-pub.bu.edu> <smghy6c@buacca.bitnet> "Technology is dominated by those who manage what they do not understand."
