Broad Axe Tavern: a strange occurance From: cooke@cat50.cs.wisc.edu (Gnarek) Date: Fri, 13 Oct 1989 22:05:32 +0000 [7:02 pm] A very strange-looking gnome walks into the tavern. He is dressed very expensively, but outlandishly. The first thing you notice is his hat. It is peaked, and made of finely-crafted leather. The leather is dyed a brilliant gold, and as you look closer you see that it is crafted to appear as though a gold dragon is coiled upon his head. He is wearing similarly-crafted boots, made to appear as claws. His pants and shirt are made of fine silk, with gold threads woven into them in the pattern of scales. And he is wearing a jacket made from the hide of some exotic creature with golden fur. He surveys the suddenly still crowd with a glance, and you notice that while beneath his beard are the features of a young gnome, the eyes are as old as mountains, and have probably seen even more sights. It is a face you will never forget. Having scanned the room, he turns his back and walks to the bulletin board, pulls a golden scroll from some hidden pocket, and tacks it up. He then moves to the back of the tavern and is lost from sight. You look back to the board, and the glint of gold catches your eye.
