Trieste (AP) -- In a nationally televised press conference today Elvis, Exalted Leader of Austria-Hungary, announced his plans to return to the studio and record a new album -- his first since his death over a decade ago. "Well, y'know, I just thought it was time to go back in and record some more songs," the King was quoted as saying, "I think people were tired of hearing stuff like 'Jailhouse Rock' for the thousandth time." Elvis will start recording at the newly established Graceland Budapest Studio later this month under the direction of another "presumed dead" rock star, Jim Morrison. "Jimmy and I have talked a lot about the direction we want this album to take, and I think it's gonna come out real well." the King later confided to reporters. When pressed over the content of the new album, Elvis confessed that it would contain a mixture of old and new songs. "I'm planning to re-record 'Love Me Tender' for a good Italian friend of mine, but mostly I'll be writing new songs over the next couple of months," he said and, after a pause, added, "although I'll be re-writing a couple of my old hits as well -- I'm currently working on one that kinda starts off 'You ain't nothin but hound dogs, Turkey and Russia...'" ;-) ******************************************** Pete's Points: Hope we're finally back on a regular schedule. As noted, Winter moves are due Wednesday; Spring 07 deadline is 10 pm EDT Wednesday, Oct 18. My thanks to Rajeev and Paul for continuing to participate despite their parlous positions. Things are apparently working now, so sending to my alternate address is no longer necessary. I need retreat orders from Russia and Italy and will run the Summer 1906 turn as soon as I get these orders. Due to the haste of processing them this time (I wanted to get them out ASAP after I got the Austrian's turn), there is a likelihood of a mistake no doubt, so please let me know if you see anything. I hope to return to a Wednesday schedule now, considering this delay as a one-week vacation from the game. Thus, assuming everything goes smoothly with Summer 1906, Fall 1906 will be due on Wed, Oct. 18 at 1 pm CDT. **************** Press: "Their officers are as good as good can be, because their training begins early, and God has arranged that a clean-run youth of the British middle classes should in the matter of backbone, brains, and bowels surpass all other youths. Upon further consideration, I have decided to put all non-GM press under the same heading, "From the Grapevine". I'll let you decide what is real. _______________________________________________________________________________ Daily Dirk _______________________________________________________________________________ From the Grapevine In a dramatic turn of events today in London, King John of England spoke to the public live in London today. He has revealed that for the past few years, his closest advisors and been keeping him drugged in an asylum. ANy public appearances had really been a hired double. His escape was aided by a sympathetic nurse who is rumored to be becoming the future Queen of England. Immediately following the speech, His Majesty personally beheaded all of the conspirators. When asked if he would be following his captors foreign policy, he replied, "Of course I am, I just didn't them to have all the fun themselves. I will, however, immediately remove the press blackout." _______________________________________________________ (Roma) During the celebrations in retaking Venice, 3 people were killed in a boating accident and another 2 were seriously injured. The channels in the city was totally jammed by thousands of boats and other vessels. In the unavoidable accident General Moreno, in charge of the successful forces, drowned, since he was runover by one of the colliding boats. Sadly, noone seems to moarn the great General. ____________________________________________________________ London: Several reports have reached the continent speaking of internal disputes in the goverment. This is not true. Our only intention is to keep the good communications with our neighbours up. The latest confused reports of where the brittish ships really are sailing, are just rumors. _______________________________________________________ Samurai Cat overloaded with POW's, communications crisis ensues. The remnants of the Archduke's forces tried to retreat into Serbia, only to meet a surprised but annoyed SC army. The AH forces were immediately destroyed. In other news, the Samurai Cat C3 unit was found guilty of eating too much turkey (pun not intended; it's Thanksgiving in Canada), and the SC Fall orders were lost on the way to the coordinator. They apologize profusely. _______________________________________________________________________________ Rear Admiral Donald Daybell ---Commander, HMS Hood If you are interested in joining the fun here on Electronic Protocol, send mail to Eric_S_Klien@cup.portal.com including your name, address, phone, e-mail address, and COUNTRY PREFERENCE LIST.
