Admiral Jellicoe to-day announced the victory of the English Atlantic Fleet over the Italian Western Fleet commanded by Andrea Bianco. The Italian fleet had been attempting to land naval troops to support one faction in the battle over the Spanish regency. Admiral Jellicoe's fleet, with the support of the fleet assisting the Rodrigues government in Portugal, was able to prevent the landings after a battle involving nearly all the ships of the line on both sides. Italian troops nearby in southern France did nothing to intervene, and were reported to be looting duty-free shops in Andorra. Despite the heavy nature of the fighting, losses on both sides were said to be light. "It were a close thing, it were!!!" roared the amiable Jellicoe. "Now let's clear them scurvy dogs outa that little fishpond, Harr!! Batten down the hatches!!! Set the mainsail!!! Unshroud the mizzens!!! No petty TYRant will MAR our TUNe!! 'NAFter that, we'll take a little NAP at some POR Italian SPA, by GOLly!!!" Naval sources on Malta noted the departure of the Italian Home Fleet from its base near Naples. At home, the first two fleets of Dreadnoughts near completion, and should be ready for service after sea trials late this year. **************** Game Summary of Blitzkrieg (EP9) GM = Doug Ingram Fall 1900 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 Place Player of Record Austria 3 5 4 5 7 6 Stewart Winter England 3 5 6 6 8 10 Kurt Schroeder France 3 5 5 3 1 0 1st elim. TURKEY ATTACKED BY TRIPLE ALLIANCE. RUSSIA IN BOTH ALLIANCES! English units were forced to retreat from Norway and the North Sea by combined attacks from French, German and Russian units. It is only a matter of time before she is elminated! A French fleet is in the English Channel Turkey is also in dire straights, having been kicked out of Bulgaria and kept out of the Aegean. With a Russian fleet in the Black Sea, and Italian and Austrian fleets closing in, she is in real trouble. So, it appears that the two "Wicked Witches" will be the first countries eliminated! ============================================================================== _The Daily Roman_ The right wing Fascist newspaper, "New Roman Empire" reports that the republican government of Italy seems totally unable to deal with the military situation. The African Corp exists in a drunken state and appears unresponsive to recall orders issued earlier. Meanwhile the Italian 1st fleet under the control of young adventurers seems to be intent on finding a route to Ethopia. Yesterday: Benito Imawenie, leader of the Fascist faction, declared in a major policy speech that, "Italy needs a strong government and a strong leader! I think that maybe, perhaps, I might be the man for the job!" ============================================================================== -Steve (gm) ------- Spring 1904 of game HMS HOOD (BNC fragged by an irate fruitbat!) I'll let you decide what is real. _______________________________________________________________________________ Daily Dirk _______________________________________________________________________________ From the Grapevine International correspondents have managed to sneak the following report out of England: Dateline London: Martial law reigns in the streets. London is a scene of constant turmoil as the demands of war take their toll. Very few able bodied men are seen on the streets. Those that are have been quickly conscripted. Rumors abound that King John has gone insane. Other rumors say that he is just a fink. Official English press releases were unavailable because of the news black out in England. _______________________________________________________________________________ Retreats due Wednesday night, Oct 4.
