HARPOON post #2 From: randy@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu (Longshot) Date: Thu, 16 Nov 1989 08:00:06 +0000 I got a much better response than I had hoped for. I have decided to run three games, doing the Gulf scenario twice over. Below are the opponents in each game: Gulf1: Caron-> Bob Slaughter <rs0@beach.cis.ufl.edu> Osas-> Mike Orbin <O73@PSUVM.BITNET> Gulf2: Caron-> Brad Eacker <baecker@mips.com> Osas-> Alan Gopin <gopin@att.com> Sea: Brits-> Shelley Louie <slouie@cory.berkeley.edu> Sov-> Doug Jenner <djenner@sun.com> OK, now for the fun part. While, obviously, everyone of these people were able to mail to me, only about half were able to recieve my reply. Therefore, I am going to try this: I will take movement commands through e-mail. What is pertinent will be posted to r.g.p under the heading of "HARPOON -- <xxx>" where <xxx> is the name of the game given above (Gulf1, Gulf2, or Sea). What this means, is, when the Osa's launch missles at the Caron, it does not go into the post. When the Caron detects missles travelling towards her, it goes into the post. Likewise for detection of ships. For the people whom I could not fit into a game yet: I am sorry. I treated the replies in the order I received them, and I felt that I could not handle more than 3 concurrent games. The following posts will be requests for startup info. For those of you whom I could not reach through mail, try to think of some alternate paths, as I imagine I will need e-mail whether I post the moves to the newsgroup or not. Internet addresses such as randy@uokmax.ecn.uoknor.edu are ideal. For some reason, I cannot reach att machines through INet, but I think I might be able to mail directly to the INet address if I have it. Randy -- Randy J.
