A unit of the Austrian Home Guard is moving into the Austrian territory of Tyrolia, to aid in the defence of Munich. von Bluchker wished to stress to all nations that the Austrian move is not hostile. "Even though this is in direct violation of the treaty hammered out in 1901, we hope that the Italians will realize the defensive nature of this move". -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Prussian Herald March 29, 1906 Berlin - Despite some early, favourable negotiations with England,it seems that England has again refused to communicate with Germany. General von Bluchker, expecting the worst, has decided to launch a pre-emptive strike against England. "If England and France think that they can fool Germany into a quick defeat, they have underestimated the strength and resources of the German people. Germany may be overrun by the hordes, but it will not be without a fight to the death." ========================================================================== BISMARCK -- FALL 1904 BNC #1989HU ORDERS: England: Italy: A Hol S GERMAN A Kie H CUT, DISB A Ber - Kie FAIL 1-1 DISL F WAL - Liv FAIL 1-1 A Vie - BOH F Edi - Nwg FAIL DISL A TRI - Ser FAIL 1-1 A Tyro - MUN France: A Apu - VEN A PIC - Lon FAIL 1-1 F Alb - GRE A BUR S ITALIAN A Tyro-Mun F ION S F Gre-Aeg A Ruh - HOL 2-1 F Gre - AEG 2-1 F ECH C A Pic-Lon F NAO - Liv FAIL 1-1 Russia: F BEL S A Ruh-Hol A Ukr - RUM 3-1 A Cly - EDI 2-1 Germany: A BUD S A Ukr-Rum A Mun - BER 2-1 A SEV S A Ukr-Rum A KIE S A Mun-Ber F BLA - Ank FAIL 1-1 A Boh - GAL F DEN S F Nwy-Nth F Nth - Lon FAIL DISL F NWG S A Cly-Edi F Nwy - NTH 2-1 Turkey: A Rum - Bud FAIL 1-1 DISB A BUL - Ser FAIL 1-1 A CON - Ank FAIL 1-1 F Aeg - BulS FAIL DISL F SMY - Con FAIL RETREATS: English F Edi can retreat to Yor or disband. No less than 6 units were dislodged. Turkey and England both had all of their orders fail. However, Turkey's failure to move did not result in the loss of any supply centers; so the supply situation in the south did not change. Four northern centers changed hands this past year. France liberated the low countries from the England and Germany, while Russia closed the net even tighter around those countries by taking Edinburgh and Denmark. Keep up the good work! This was a most interesting season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE DAILY ECLAIR "Official Newspaper of Pastry Lovers the World Over" UP (Paris) -- Communist insurgents entered the Royal Flaky Pastry Factory, despite extremely strong security, and made off with 25 tons of Flaky Pastry Mix. Heinous acts of pastry terrorism are expected in the upcoming months. Considering that France has never been a primary target for communist groups, we recommend that ALL European nations increase internal security against this ever-present threat to the establish order. In particular, Russia should spend less energy building fleets NORTH COAST (!!), and more resources combatting communism. After all, we all know what's going to happen in 1917..... =============================================================================== Diplomacy Game #17 (Jacal) *GUNBOAT*, BNC #1989AXrb32 GM: Jason O'Donnell jmodonne@owucomcn.bitnet FALL 1902 ORDERS [ ] indicates failed order AUSTRIA-HUNGARY [A Ser --> Rum] [A Bud S A Tri] [A Tri S A Bud] [F Gre S *TURKISH* F Aeg --> Ion] ENGLAND A Bel S *GERMAN* A Bur F Iri S F Lon --> Eng F NtS S F Lon -> Eng F Lon --> Eng F Nwy H FRANCE [A Gas --> Bur] A Mar S A Gas --> Bur A Par S A Gas --> Bur F Bre S F MAO F MAO H GERMANY [A Bur S *ENGLISH* A Bel-Pic] A Mun S A Bur [A Sil --> Gal] [A Den --> Swe] F Kie --> Bal ITALY A Alb --> Ser A Ven --> Tri A Tyr S A Ven -->Tri F Ion S *TURKISH* F Aeg --> Gre RUSSIA A Ukr S F Sev --> Rum [A Gal S A Vie --> Buda] [A Vie --> Buda] A War H A Stp H [F Swe --> Den] F Sev --> Rum TURKEY A Smy H A Bul S *ITALIAN* A Alb --> Ser F Aeg --> Gre F Con --> Aeg RESULTS Totals Country Position (Builds) ------- -------- -------- Austria: A Boh,Bud F Alb 1 (-2) England: A Bel F Eng,Iri,Nts,Nwy 5 (0) France : A Gas,Mar,Par F Bre,MAO 5 (0) Germany: A Bur,Den,Mun,Sil F Bal 5 (0) Italy : A Ser,Tri,Tyr F Ion 4 (+2) Russia : A Gal,Stp,Ukr,Vie,War F Sev,Rum 7 (0) Turkey : A Bul,Smy F Aeg,Gre 4 (+1) Notes: ------ Unless I made a mistake, the only option for the Austrian fleet in Greece was to retreat to Albania. The Austrian army in Serbia need to retreat, but the only place to retreat was the region from which the displacing army came and therefore had to disband. The Austrian army in Trieste likewise could only retreat to Bohemia, since the fleet in Greece retreated to Albania. Of course this is entirely moot, it would appear that both shall have to be disbanded anyhow. PRESS Budapest (UPI): A military coup has overthrown the democratic Austrian government, directly resulting from the inability of the previous regime to prevent Russia from capturing Vienna unopposed. The new coalition of armed forces has extended treaties to Italy and Turkey (ESPECIALLY TURKEY), in an effort to prevent conflict, and establish an alliance against common foes (read RUSSIA). ... Yes, that's right, there's a new player running Austria, and I have no clue what the alliance situation is (except that I appear to be on the losing end). Any previous alliance, real or imagined, is suspended for Fall 02 ONLY. Future press releases should clarify the Austrian position. Turkey: The Sultan has returned! Germany-Russia: Sorry I misread your intentions, but I've played Russia enough to know that your next step would've been in my direction. Germany-England: I'm committed to the Russian front now, but between us, I believe that we can fight both Russia and France with a great deal of success. Like I said so long ago, there really isn't anything A STP can do that doesn't hurt one of us (except maybe disband). Germany-Italy: Please consider helping me against Russia. After all, there is nowhere else for Turkey to expand except to the Ionian, and once Austria is gone, the Russian armies will be to your North and Turkey will be pushing from the South. All we need in France is a little pressure in the South, and it will fall pretty fast, giving us both supply centers and strengthening you for an Eastern front war which you will face within two years. Minister of War, Henri La Guerre, attributed the recent losses of French forces to the use of chemical weapons by the Germans. "Tens of thousands of brave French soldiers was killed by toxic fumes of sauerkraut emanating from the filthy mouths of invading German barbarians." "But", he continued, "we have our own chemical weapons. So far we have hesitated to use them but now the barbarous German sauerkraut-eaters have forced us to introduce them. From now on, all French soldiers are required to eat at least one hundred grams of garlic a day." --------------- >From Le Monde: !!!!! ATROCITIES IN BURGUNDY !!!!! Refugees from Burgundy have told reporters that German forces have committed unspeakable atrocities against civilian population. "They forced me to eat sauerkraut", said one crying girl. "We will never give up!" says Gaeneral Yabukovsky. All units are bracing for the long defensive over the winter in which it is expected that the French forces will go the way those of Napoelon had. The English are not expected to last thwe winter either. How they have lasted so far is a great mystery. There was much drinking through out the motherland as the last of the Austrians were exterminated. The world shall miss them as it misses a bad hapbit. When asked about the status of the Russian campaign relative to the others, General Yabukovsky said "I think it has somethhing to do with the fact that we never failed to attack a neighbor and defeat them. Alas..." -Geneva- English, French and Russian leaders met this week and signed a treaty ending the seven-years' war. Major concessions by the Tsar gave the Western Powers complete hegemony in Europe, North Africa and Asia Minor. =============================================================================== BISMARCK -- AUTUMN 1904 BNC #1989HU RETREATS: English F Edi - Yor. I probably could have lasted for a few years, but who wants to play a losing game? I considered presenting England with an ultimatum to the effect that if he did not ally with me, then I would let France have the four more centers he needed for the solo. It was possible too; I don't believe England could have punched through Mos to get any more centers. Any thoughts, comments? I think I knew I was doomed in the game when Italy would not respond to the French threat. I know that I warned him about it quite a bit, saying essen- tially that a F Mar was nothing but an overture to an invasion. At that point, Turkey was all but dead, and I was committed with Italy against Austria. France and England, while they had their difficulties, would sooner or later realize that together they would be much more effective, as opposed to allying with me or Austria. I saw my only chance as sweeping up enough centers from Austria, Italy, Turkey, and Germany to build up forces while delaying the in- evitable attack from England and France. Unfortunately for me, the attack from England came a move earlier than I had anticipated.
